Re: Herbs & Treatment

Im going to begin treatment in about a month and I am wondering what herbs and vitamins people have used while ON treatment?  And thoughts on do you think they helped you either feel better and possibly clear faster....etc..
Any of your thoughts would be appreciated.  Is there a list of herbs to take somewhere on this forum?
Thanks
Sara

My above response was not meant to say to take those on TX.  My Drs told me no herbs while on tx.  Sometimes I don't type exactly what I mean.

I took a couple different herbal combinations while txing. The only claims the OMD who formulated them made was that they wouldn't interfer with the IFN and they might help with the side effects. I SVRd with shorter than standard tx and my blood counts stayed so close to normal range that my gastro asked more than once whether I was taking all my meds. However...
I don't know whether I sustained response because of or in spite of the herbs. Would I recommend that other people do this or promote these products?
Don't be silly.

I've been taking Milk Thistle for years. I also have added an 8 oz. glass daily of 100% pure pomegranate juice in the last 6 months (very high in anti-oxidants) and likewise recently of 100% pure grapefruit juice (which I read helps stop replication of the Hep-C virus). Some things are just a waste of money which I took for several years, like Sam-E (according to the doctor).

The secret is to keep your immune system strong. The doctor also highly recommends exercise. In my case I also lift weights. The immune system is your best friend...

Chinese herbalists have been practicing with herbal medication for 1000's of years. Couldn't hurt to see one...

One of my dogs had a bad immune system (she was the light of my life) and I did tons of research trying not to use antibiotics.  Olive leaf was one of my miracle herbs. that and oil of oregano.  I kept her going for 2 years on her regimin but she died in my arms in JUly heat wave, no rain, pneumonia did her in. I was told that would be her demise but I held it off for a few years.  She was only 4.  Anyway I was getting to the fact that olive leaf was good------after all that :-)

This is my regimen while on tox. When not on tox I take some anti inflammatories (i.e. milthistle, curcumin, green tea, resveratrol, etc). These suppress the immune system which is not a good idea on tox. Yes I believe they are helping with the sx a lot. Check out my profile for more info.

Here is what I take. Cordycep, Astragulas, Olive leaf, PPC, Taurine, Sam e, TMG, NAC/Vitc, Glutathione, Oxymatrine, B6 and B12, folic acid, selenium, zinc, magnesium, ALA, salmon oil, Inulin/Culterelle, Qc10, Garlic, calcium, Whey protein powder, Vit D, creatine, shark liver oil, potassium for muscle cramps with tonic water, along with 1600 riba, the alinia, and double dose peg, lactoferrin at eot taper, and prayer!  Phew! If that don't kill the little buggers than nothing will!

I know,
just rediculous.

I have a loved one who is beginning herbal protocols very soon.
They have suggested the following link to a product prescribed by their TCM practitioner:

http://www.drshen.com/healthconcerns.htm

Of course, I'm not a doctor myself, but have also benefited from TCM.
