Regulations on drugs cross-border

I read Gauf's journal on Alinia and HR's comments on it.  I noted that you can get it in Mexico under the name Daxon at 1/4 of the cost.  I'm wondering what the rules are in the U.S. for going across the border and buying medicines and bringing them back in.  I will be looking it up as well.  I'm in Canada and my son is in San Diego for four months at the moment.  Last thing I want to do is ask him to do anything that would mess up his internship however he IS right there.  Not saying I will actually DO this...but looking into options.  I see my doc this Thursday and will definitely be asking him about Alinia.  (Thanks sfbaygirl for pushing that question into my consciousness.)

This is good! You got them at least. I wonder what the differece in price out of pocket here as to there. If we can even get them here!  I suggest we get them from our own Dr's off label, then to get them from Mexico. Glad you got them, BF.  Those of us that couldn't get them from our own Dr's are stuck with getting them over the border. Thanks for the update!!

I finally received the Alinia from mexmedsonlinedotcom. The medication is from the Mexican company Quimpharma and is under the brand name, Mitafar.
The pills are a fairly large, no numbers or logos, and yellow in color. It is Nitazoxinida, 500MG. It appears to be legit, but I was bit disappointed as I expected just a spanish version of the same pill you would get in the US. This stuff is actually manufactured in Mexico.

It could be that Mexmedsonline.com is under the microscope by customs. They sell Alinia for $16 for 6 pills. If I don't get the shipment this time, I might try mexmeds4you.

I just checked the online prices of Daxon/Alinia in the U.S. and in Mexico.

In the U.S. you can buy 180 pills for $2,768.47 at drugstore dot com.  This costs more than $15 per pill.  In Mexico they sell 6 pills for $20.48, which comes to $3.41 a pill.  If you play the odds, you'd have to lose quite a few shipments to Customs before you reach the U.S. price.  I can only tell you that I've never had a shipment fail to go through.  I think it depends on how much of a gambler you are.  Since most insurance companies will not pay, wherever you buy them, the money's out of your pocket.

It seems that customs could and would say NO to the drugs that are ordered....then we wouldn't get them. My concern also is if Floyd ordered them, and paid...will he get his money back?  

I would worry about the customs rejecting the drugs I wanted ie; Davron or Alinia....besides the cost. I am sure it is way more than we could get it through our dr's if they would give it to us.... Some of these internet pharms are sleezy, I hope he gets his drugs or his money back.  I think these mexican pharms are charging a fortune for Alinia compared to what we would pay if our own ins or dr's wrote a script....

I don't understand the customs of Customs at all.  I just received a package from mexmeds4you yesterday.  Right on the outside is a label that says, "Medications" and their value in dollars.  I had no problem whatsoever.

Maybe Customs spot checks packages at random, so another try at crossing the border might indeed work just fine.  Good luck.

I ordered from mexmedsonlinedotcom on Jan 14 promising delivery in 10-21 days. They processed payment on 1/31. I have still not received the goods. I sent a note and they claimed they sent me a note on 2/4 (never received) explaining that it did not make it through customs and they were reshipping, which would take another 10-21 days. I still have received nothing.

I had looked at them from canada and they were the same $20 that they are here in the US - I was really disappointed.  Now $10.95 is half price what I usually pay.  I am going to do the same as you and order several at once as soon as I get paid tomorrow.

They literally save her life and I'd like to have a few extras to leave one at my parents house - one for her purse - one for my house - one for the car...that sort of thing just in case, God forbid.  She's almost died 3x and I just worry worry worry - that would help me so very much!

I use www dot mexmeds4u dot com and order Ventolin - the kind of inhaler that gives you 200 sprays.  They cost $10.95 each plus shipping, so I usually order a half dozen at a time because it costs the same to ship one as it does to ship six.  So far I've never had any problems, and the FDA police have not come knocking at my door to arrest me.

Do you know the name?  I have a chronic asthmatic (COPD) daughter and if I could buy a few extra inhalers (she loses them, uses them up to early stuff like that) to have as a backup it would be awesome!

No script necessary since it is OTC in MX. The product is sold as a package of 6 pills. I ordered quantity 10. That is all I know until I hear or see something from them. It's interesting that their website lists nitazoxanide as a best seller.

I ordered a month's supply on 1/14 and received only an order confirmation so far. The site says no order tracking and shipping takes 10-21 days. They also state that shipments to US are subject to clearing customs.  21 days will be on Monday, so I will soon see. The concern I have is that if I start the drug, I can't be certain that future orders will be delivered on time. btw, the cost is $160 for a 1 month supply (60). I will let you all know as I learn more.
