Resistance -- mutations with new meds?

If you take the sovaldi/olysio combo and are one of the few that relapse or fail treatment can you still be treated with abbievie or something else comign down the pipeline? or does the virus mutate and become resistant to all the new meds? At that point what are you option?
I want to start treatment but don't want to cut off my nose to spite my face!

Thank you - your comments were very helpful. I doubt insurance will cover new meds if I fail the new treatment. I may wait a few more months to get on the next round but will have to discuss with my doctor next week. Hope your treatment is going well and glad to hear that you go on it before things changed.

This was one of the questions I asked my doc before starting the Sovaldi/Olysio.  Her answer was yes you may be treated with other meds.  My concern would be whether the insurance company would pay for another course of high dollar treatment soon after paying big $$$$$ for this combo?

If you have 1a without the Q80 polymorphism or 1b the odds with this treatment are excellent.  If you are UND at 4 weeks.  90-100% SVR. My doc believes the new Sovaldi/ Ledispavir combo will be even better.  Guess it really depends upon how long you can wait?  In my case I needed to be treated, and had insurance concerns with layoffs by my employer being considered. Good luck whatever you decide.
