Riba Rash?

Both of my hands have broken out with a rash. They itch, have tiny blisters, and drive my nuts. Is this what is called Riba Rash?

It was me who found the Gold Bond way way back when...I used it and it cleared up the rash so fast! Then I stopped and it came right back. So I learned...always use it during treatment.

But then at about week 70 I developed a rash on my face which was completely NOT ribarash whatsoever.  It didn't even look the same at all.   By this time it was easy enough to tell the difference. The doctor gave me a prescription heavy duty medication to deal with it - and it had trouble working!

What I'm trying to say is...it's easy enough to call everything a 'ribarash' but some rashes are autoimmune driven psoriasis, eczema type things and they HAVE to use a prescription medication.

But if it is the tiny tiny little pinprick itchy riba spots - go for the GOLDBOND ever time.  IT works FANTASTIC on that.  You'll be able to tell because while it works for the riba bumps it doesn't work for the other big gooey type rashes.

I hope that makes sense!

It doesn't sound like my riba rash either. I hope you will see a dermatologist before you self treat. Some people with hep C get something called porphyria cutanea tarda. Here are the symptoms:

"The symptoms in PCT are confined mostly to the skin. Blisters develop on sun-exposed areas of the skin, such as the hands and face. The skin in these areas may blister or peel after minor trauma. Increased hair growth, as well as darkening and thickening of the skin may also occur. Neurological and abdominal symptoms are not characteristic of PCT.

Liver function abnormalities are common but are usually mild. These sometimes progress to cirrhosis and even liver cancer. PCT is often associated with hepatitis C infection, which also can cause these liver complications. However, liver tests are generally abnormal even in PCT patients without hepatitis C infection.

Thanks for all your responses the Gold Bond seems to be working the best. Sooner or later, the urged to scratch wins and that is when it gets the worst.

sounds like contact dermatitis (eczema) - i have had this condition all my life but it has stopped a few years back - i am about to start therapy, hope it doesn't start for me again

whatever you do - don't itch it - use a cortizone cream (ointment) and gold bond - when it's unbearable, immerse your hands in ice water - the blisters are full of puss which is a reaction to an irritant you touch or is in yout body - good luck

Riba rash is somewhat of a catch-all here, and sometimes we're not talking about the same thing. Gold Bond therefore works for some of us and not for others. If it persists or becomes particularly bothersome, you might want to  see a dermatologist for proper diagnosis. Both my hands and feet blistered on treatment and it turned out to be a sticky form of psoriasis. I doubt that's what you have, but the point is that not all "rashes" can be cured by moisturizes. Mine required special laser light treatments.

I get exactly what you described, rash and blisters on my hands and forearms.  I slather myself in moisturizer and it clears up in a couple of days.  Have had this twice in 25 weeks of tx.

Try the Gold Bond and good luck.

Doesn't sound like the riba rash I have experienced (but to each their own (g)). I tend to get it around my waste, as well as ankles and shins..But I have had a rash like you describe(smal blisters on my hands-actually fingers) on and off for much of my life...I think some of it has to do with stress, sweating, oil from working on the car, etc. I did have a derm tell me to avoid high moisturizing soaps like Dove for example, as well as harsh soaps like Ivory...I find Dial to be the best for me..good luck..
Perhaps Jim will chime in, I know he had a number of derm issues as a result of tx.
