yah sure i'll give you the info, just tell me where to send it, i was starting to feel "over looked" by yah darlin, thinkin you just DIDN'T want my stats..also, i will ask for "grow-a-dates" stats too if you want them.....

send it to auggieaz @ yahoo.com  (no spaces) or go to website and click on Add My Info (I think) or Contact Webmaster.

www.geocities.com/auggieaz

As far as "grow a date", the only dates I want or need are best kept shrink-wrapped. I need prunes more than dates.  LOL.

ANYONE who wants to be included or updated  on my website, please do so!

I'm not on tx yet but I have a silly sounding question regarding apirin? Which substitute of aspirin is least hard for the liver? If you could let me know the "common name" ie Advil, Aleve, etc I'd appreciate it. I get confused with the chemical names. I've been using aspirin for minor pains, headaches etc. I want to avoid any additional stress on my liver. I wish everyone well.
Thanks, Annette

I was scratching til I drew blood sometimes. I've worked in heating and air conditioning for about 28 years so I put a VERY GOOD humidifier on my furnace but it didn't help until I remembered to open the contol damper I installed for it (duh, only took 4 weeks to realise this) It has really helped a lot. What still itches is in my ears and down south in the rear to be polite. Portable humidifiers are good also just get one with a low water shut off due to brain fog and forgetting to re-fill the water.

Thank you for responding...
Humidifier sounds like a good idea, I wish they could make one for my car:)
The red spots I've got all over the stomach and chest areas were growing until I consulted with my RN and she prescribed Betaderm cream that actually works. In my case itching started around week 10, mostly in the base of the tree in the southern lawn:)

Yeahhhh!!  My hubby started treatment yesterday and only complaint he had for first day was late last night...he said his back was kinda hurting and he felt hot.  He slept great through the night and got up this morning feeling great and ate a big breakfast and went to work.  I have my fingers crossed that he continues to feel this good for future shots.

My hep c nurse told me to take 2 regular paracetemol, every 4 hours (no more than 8 in a day) on shot days and then 1 regular paracetemol at bedtime if needed....seems to work for me.
Odessit,
That darn rash is enough to drive anyone crazy!  Every time I scratched, I ended up looking like I'd had a whipping!  Big red welts!  My Gp gave me Diprobase Cream, someone told me about it on this forum.  (I believe it's called something like Diprolene in the States)?  It's expensive, but an absolute life saver for me!  Stops all that itching almost immediately!
I think it was OHC who told me about baby oil too, it really helps and soothes the skin.
Hope this helps you guys?

good morning.....at oh ah..11:30am did it again! slept in, i hate that....anyway, i was told to take tylonel while on treatment, not to exced the dose reqommened...or as needed...also, i'm not sure about aleve, think its in the ibprophin family, same as advil....hard on liver...i also take celebrex though, which is ALSO in that family...(ibprophin) so that may be why they do not want me taking any other...similar....said i could get "poisoning" from too much of it...so i am down to tylenol extra strenght on shot days/nights and then if i get that REALLY PEIRCING HEADACHE i take a toradol....ummm not sure if they work....but trial and error, hope this helps, sure you will get some more clarification as i may be ALL WRONG...

Over the counter pain meds come in about 4 types. It is easy to remember.

1. Acetamenophen (Tylenol)
2. Ibuprofen (Motrin)
3. Aspirin (I am not going to spell the generic)
4. Naprosyn, Naproxin

Most doctors only recommend 2 grams/day of Tylenol. Some go as far as 4 grams/day. I suppose with us Heppers 2 grams/day or 2000 milligrams/day (same dose) spread out over the day is OK. Tylenol is liver toxic. It is the big worry when someone takes an overdose.

Ibuprofen is also liver toxic. Prescription doses are 800 milligrams every 8 hours or every six hours. Over the counter is 400 milligrams every 4 to 6 hours.

I like the vitamin M (Motrin). 800 milligrams once or twice a day smooths out some of the rough edges while on this nasty tx. I stay away from tylenol based products as much as possible, unless incorporated in a narcotic (Vicodin, Darvocet) and I need it for serious pain control. Short term doses don't bother me.

I still like aspirin but do not take it much. Have not had much personal experience with Naprosyn. I see a lot of women taking this for PMS cramps.

Have I confused you? Just go easy with what ever you decide to take.

My best to you

Alieve is a different one, called nuproxium soda and I think it's the worst of them. some dr.s say tylenol, no more than  2000 mg. Some Dr.s say ibupropen or asprin, but they thin your blood and if you have low platelets, that's not good.  They probably tell you  to take whatever they like, but i'd ask my dr. b4 i took anything. they are the most familiar w/ your blodd.      joni

Every once in a while.  Not that often and never as intense as they are now.

My Dr. just told me yesterday NSAID's can potentiate the effects of interferon.  Just take a reasonable amount of tylenol.

Tylenol (acetaminophen or paracetamol) is the most reccomended and has the least side effects.  Actaminophen is liver toxic in certain circumstances.  If a person is a chronic drinker they will have elevated detoxification enzyme (CYP450 2E) and this enzyme is the responsible party for creating reactive metabolites in tylenol overdoses.  It is not a reaction between alcohol and tylenol but the issue is chronic use of alcohol leading to increased enzyme levels which in turn lead to an increased likelyhood of the formation of reactive metabolites.

Ibuprophen will inhibit COX-2 enzymes which will impede clotting...but it is reversable and the effect goes away once the drug has been cleared from the body.

Aspirin also inhibits COX-2 but does so irreversably and the only solution is the production of new enzyme...about 10-14 days.

Naproxen sodium can cause severe stomach upset so its use should be limited.

Overall tylenol is the safest and carries the least adverse sideeffects of the NSAIDS.....although it does not have anti-inflamatory properties just analgesic.

BobK

thanks honey, just came back fr. gp..normal doc...with a TON of new scripts....i have broncitis...no wonder i cough til almost vomiting....ukkkk....anyway...once i left there and went to my best friends i burst into tears because when io asked my doc for something STRONGER then toradol for the excrutiating pain of headaches i seem to get after my injections...she made me feel like a frikken junkie......as i did 15 years ago, have a problem with pain meds.....but explained to her that she can CLEARLY SEE there has NEVER been another incident since....and that given the circumstances i do think more serious pain management is justified...!!!!!she perscribed  ratio-oxycocet...humm never heard of it but hope it helps...also....something else for the constant nausea, as gravol is knocking me on my ass.....too long a name to spl. and then apo-cefuroxime 500mg..anti-biotic....and then something to help me STOP BLEEDING......

okay BOB K this where you come in.....in your post you mention something about certain drugs thinning your blood and making you bleed more...is that right..maybe that is part of the problem i am experiencing now as i am now aniemic....any thoughts..

I can understand the headaches.  They get so bad some days it feels as if my head is tearing apart.  A few weeks ago I got one that I really thought at the time would kill me, I took 6 regular s generic tylenols one day, that night I took 2 Ibuprofen 800, and the next afternoon I got a few vicadens (sp) and took 2 then waited a few hours and nothing, still this huge painful headache so like an idot I took one more, needless to say an hour later I was SICK SICK SICK.  I threw up so much but when it was said and done much later, the headache was gone.  My advice to everyone is, "Don't do what I did"  it was not worth it just to get rid of that headache.  Anyways I contacted my dr. about the headaches and I will be going in next week to discuss it with him.  My concern that I asked him about at the time was the bruising that I have all over my body.  I have at least 10 or more bruises at any given time, they are huge and black.  When I asked him if he thought something was going on he said that he felt it was related to all the ibuprofen (motrin 800) and told me that until I came in to see him that I was only to take Tylenol and no more than 6 in any 24 hour period.  My question is, if the bruising was related to the motron then why 3 weeks later am I still covered in bruises and why were they on me before I took the motrons.  Do any of you have any idea why I'm getting so many bruises?  Thank you all in advance for your help.
