Unfortunately the tongue ulcerations are a reaction to the interferon and they will come and go for the entire time you're on treatment. They were one of the worst most painful things I ever went through........I couldn't BELIEVE how much they hurt.
I'd like to suggest my favorite favorite cure...ICE CREAM.
Well...it doesn't really "cure" it but...it's fun while it lasts! Ice cream on treatment is the bestest thing EVER!
Just want you to have a little something to smile at. There ARE good parts to treatment you know!
We often get Thrush/candida when we are on the INF/riba treatment...Ask your doctor to prescribe you the Mycelex(Troche) lozangers--they dissovle on your tongue--it does not hurt..even though you have a flair up...
Once you get Thrush --you will probably experience it on and off during treatment is my experience.. so I always have my Mycelex on hand and pop one in my mouth...it usually clears up in a day...
Hope this info helps..

been there............try liquid maalox & liquid childrens cherry benadryl. It helped me a lot. It might burn a little but it does give relief. Next step is to get your doc to write a script for that plus zylacaine. I always swished & spitted. Good Luck
