Sore throat/tongue & excema

I know this sounds very weird but...I'm on my 17th week of interferon and ribavarin and lately my tongue and throat feel dry and very sensitive...like a burning/stinging sensation.  The Dr. doesn't say much about it.  Matter of fact...pretty much anything..he sums up to side effects.  For example...I have these bumpy red spots on my arms, neck and legs.  They itch constantly and the surface of my skin has become leathery.  My blood panel isn't to far out of whack..except my TSH which is a 45.1...where the normal range should be .3 to 5.1.   Does anyone else have these symptoms.  The burning tongue thing and rash are very bothersome.  Thx for any advice.

I would be a little concerned about your doctor if he is unable/unwilling to give you advice on how to TX your symptoms. What kind of doc is it?
I too have the Riba rash and was given a prescription of Triamcinolone. This seems to help along w/the lots of lotion and hydration. The sun seems to aggravate or cause it. It is on my chest and only my L arm/hand from the sun that comes through the window when I drive. I also have a referral for a Dermatologist that I need to follow up on, cause it is annoying.
The tongue/mouth thing I believe is also common w/TX. I use the prescription Magic mouthwash but it is essentially the same thing as Rita describes.
I was reading about Chemo and it said that it attacks rapidly reproducing cells like;
Skin, hair, in the mouth and intestines. Along w/WBC, RBC and hopefully HCV.

The red bumps are a rash from riba, you can try goldbond cream it works for some.  Also do not take hot baths, luke warm, mild soap and moistures.  Plenty of water also helps.  The mouth thing could be the start of ulcerated mouth sores which i have had for since May.  I use biotene tooth paste and mouth wash.  i also use equal parts of benadryl, malox and lidocaine and swish and spit or you can get it prescribed already mixed its called Magic mouthwash.  About the blood work, i am not to good on that.
But i have had the rash and mouthsores for most of my tx.  i am in week 31 and hopefully will be doing 42.

good luck

peace
