Sovaldi & Olysio

Starting my first pills with dinner tonite.  My dr. said to take with food either at breakfast or dinner - hoping I made the right choice by taking them with dinner and that if there any significant sides, they'll happen while I'm sleeping!  If anyone has anything to share about these meds and sides, please do!  I'm Geno 1a, first time treating.

I start Sovaldi and Ribivirin tomorrow.  I went through interferon treatment twice. One time 48 weeks and then 72. The virus was suppressed during the treatment but I had a terrible time with work and how I was treated there, bordering on harassment.  The good thing is I took action and now I am semi-retired with benefits so I won't be under that situation.  I'm kind of scared just because of how much it beat me up going through the treatment before.

Just started olysio sovaldi combo 9 days ago. Wondering if anyone is experiencing severe joint pain/body aches? I have lupus but started having pain with meds and have never had a lupus flare this bad... Only had 3 good days of 9 so far...

Best Wishes to you too!  I initially didn't sleep so well either but I think it was more because of worry than the meds. I had started taking my meds in the evening because I was worried about the side effects and didn't want to experience them during day but I have since switched to taking my meds in the morning because there are virtually no side effects.  I'm on Day 17 and the fatigue and blah I was feeling prior to starting treatment has sure dissipated lots.  I'm not seeing a lot of change with my CBC with Differential weekly blood draws other than a nice increase in my platelets, but hope when the I have the HCV RNA, quantitative blood test along with the CBC and Differential blood testing in two weeks there will be some significant change.  And if you didn't receive a coupon from Sovaldi to help with your co-pay, be sure to ask.  My nurse took care of all of the details for me insurance wise and is quick to respond when I have questions.

Best wishes, and hoping SVR for all.  Started the Sovaldi/Olysio therapy yesterday.  Didn't sleep well.  Feels like the virus is being starved. :)   Can almost feel it in my entire body. Looking forward to lab results in two weeks.
Want to hug my PA, after being denied by my insurance company she pushed hard for approval and it was granted.  Important for medical staff to know the requirements of your particular insurance company to assure approval.  Make sure YOU understand health factors of your insurance company that may qualify/disqualify you.  After I had been approved, before my meds would be shipped I had to talk to a nurse affiliated with the pharmacy.  It seemed as though she was asking questions that might allow them not to dispense the meds.  Day 1 on the road to recovery.
Goodbye HCV

Good luck and I hope the treatment is successful for you!  I am on Day 7 - started taking them in the evening last Monday (wish I had taken them in the morning because there really aren't any sides so far!).  I will go for my 1 week blood test on Tuesday and hope for the best.  Have to say I am feeling stronger every day :)

I am stage 2-3.  Detected 3 years ago and I wanted to wait once I heard there was a possibility of new drugs without interferon - luckily my doctor agreed - because I am otherwise healthy.  I have low platelets (79,000 at last test) which also made me ineligible for some of the other treatments. Good luck and hope you get approved soon!

I am a stage 1, previous 3x partial responder with interferon/ribavirin. No previous treatment with PI. I don't know why insurance approved it. I was approved in less than a day no problems at all. I would think it was because I am symptomatic (extreme fatigue, joint pain) and I have been infected for my whole life (28 years.)

Hi this question is for Michigan 57 and Savannah after looking at both of your profiles, I don't see where either of you have cirrhosis, yet you've managed to get your insurance to cover this. NICE, I wonder if I should try or wait. Are either of you treatment experienced with a PI?  Thanks and best wishes for continued success.

I am 18 days in on sovaldi/olysio. It is amazing how I feel. My only side effect is too much energy and insomnia. I am waiting till I crash, but I don't think I will. Everyday I feel stronger and more focused. I take my pills after my first meal because I like to know I have taken them for that day and it is not good if you wait until the night and in case you forget you may miss your dose for that day.

Good luck. You are very lucky to be treating with this combo your first time. You have a near 100% chance of svr!

I have to agree, I'm almost at week 4 of taking 3 DAA's and have no sx. About the only thing I've noticed is that I sleep better now then ever before starting tx,  it's been a cake walk. These meds are the best!

Boobert gave you good advise on taking these meds at the same time everyday, and always with food to get full absorption. Set your alarm on your phone, the tx is so easy you may forget you're on tx. My alarm goes off twice a day to remind me on on tx and need that next pill, lol. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water and you should tolerate tx just fine.  Good luck!

The only thing to remember is taking the meds the same time every day, don't worry about the sides with these meds there really isn't any. You'll do fine.
