Starting SOC

The Pegasys and Ribavirin were delivered today. Now that I'm back at work and reading past post here I see I shouldn't have put the Rivavirin in the Frig.

Anyway, my question is:
Should I start these drugs on the same day? I plan on injecting the Pegasys on Thursdays. Should I wait to start the Ribavirin or does it matter?

Any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,   Jak

The Riba in the fridge for a few hours will not effect it"s efficacy as nygirl mentions.
On Soc you should ideally start the whole ball of wax on the same day, however taking the riba for 2 days won't hurt either....bit of a head start .Best to be guided by your doctor on dosing though...

Are you G2 or 3...and that is why just SOC?

Good luck on getting underway..

Tip#1

You need to focus on what you're doing. Sounds like you have many balls in the air at one time. Your successful treatment is going to depend on your focus.

I understand your rush this time, but treatment is going to get tedious real fast and it's going to require your complete attention to detail.

I suggest you read info related to medications and have questions for the medical professionals treating you. If what they say does not jive with the instructions you got with the medicine you need to know why.

Don't completely turn responsiblity for you successful treatment over to anyone.
Monitor everyone and everything. Most folks have similar medication schedules and if your's is different or unique you need to know exactly why.

Everyone here is dedicated you success and your SVR.

Wishing to you the very best.

I'm G2.
The riba was packed with the peg so I assumed it was to be refrigerated also. I was in a hurry to pay my property taxes, go home, and to get back to work. The Pharmacy did give me instructions as did the Nurse specialist...Maybe I wasn't paying attention. I have paperwork I guess I'll read now. =) So far though, the best information I have got came from this list and friends on this list. I think I know somewhat to expect now.
I think I'll start everything on Thurs.
Thanks all,
Jak

you should ask your doctor, but mine said to start the same day... I started my Rib in the AM and did my shot at night so i could sleep through most of any side effects...turns out that the day I do my shot isn't a big deal for me anyway...I do my shots on Friday and the following Tuesday seems to be the worse for me, but not horrible.

today is probably the most uncomfortable since i started 11 days ago...slight nausea, tired, a little light headed..comes and goes through the day...not horrible though...

congrats on getting started!  it's all just a count down now...

I dont think it's that bad if you put the riba in the fridge I certainly know the peg has to go there...just take the riba out.

Didn't your doc give you instructions with the meds?  Back in the olden days when I took SOC you started the pills in the morning (half of them) then took the others 12 hours later and the peg.

Of course, I would double check with your doc I treated a long time ago and things could be different these days (and you should always check with the doc since he's a doc ;)
