“Proper storage of Ribavirin:
Store Ribavirin between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Ribavirin out of the reach of children and away from pets.”

http://www.drugs.com/cdi/ribavirin.html

Ribavirin has a long half life; as long as you get your daily dosage in, it probably doesn’t make much difference how you balance the time out in terms of hours. It’s often easier to remember to take it at the same time as other meds.

Be sure to check with your doctor’s office Monday if you have any doubts; I haven’t personally done triple therapy, but have previously (and successfully) completed 152 weeks of IFN/riba in past years.

Good luck-

My husband is on triple therapy with Inc.  We don't refrigerate my husband's Riba.  It is in a dark, dry, room temperature cupboard, but the pills for the week are set out in a pill box with proper dosages and times to help him keep his meds straight and on schedule.  He takes his Riba at 10 AM, and 8 PM, so 10 hours apart.  His NP approved that schedule.  I think she said 10-12 hours apart is ideal.  This is his third time treating, all three times with Riba included in the mix, and he was a partial responder the first two times, so I think the way that we are storing and dosing the Riba is OK.

I don't refrigerate my riba . Bill's instructions are accurate.  I like to take my riba close to 12 hours apart but I have seen here in this forum that a lot of doctors say to go ahead and take it with the PI.  I think what they want is 100% compliance and they figure it is easier on us to dose 3x a day, not 5.  With Incevik and the amount of fat you have to take per dose, I think it may be advisable to do the riba (which also takes some fat for bioavailability) .

Personally since I take Victrelis which requires a light snack but no fat, I dose that at 5-1-9 and I like the ribavirn at 7-7 to coincide better with my meals

RIBA needs to be taken twice a day.  It does not need to be exactly 12 hours.  I asked my pharmacist when I started if I could take it at the 8 hour with my incivek and she said yes but I may have more sides if I take it that close together.  I take it at the 12s, morning dose was with incivek, and second by itself 12 hours later between incivek doses.

Thanks Bill for your input.   I was thinking the same thing when the NP and I sat down and scheduled my meds.   Seem like she said something like the 1/2 life of riba was longer so it really didnt matter.   Guess it may be true since my 4 week labs came back "UND"     It really is a much easier schedule to take them like this and the pharmacy has my schedule as well, so It must be ok :)

Can do Man ~  Thanks for the reassurance, its nice to know I am not stuck in a brain fog and am loosing it :)

Triple, I dont work so what day I do my shot really doesnt matter.  Actually I am usually got more going on on the weekends than I do during the week, is why i picked monday to do the shot.
Like I said, I am going on to week "10" and have been doing this regimine with the scheduling of the meds, I just hope it doesnt hurt anything.   Like i said the NP and I sat down and scheduled this and she said it was ok ????   But then I heard that the riba needs to be given 12 hours a part.     Thanks for you suggestions :)   Keep on Keeping on !

I'm actually having the easiest week since we started. Rash is a pain. Stomach isn't nearly as upset all the time. Fatigue not so bad. I thank God as I've been able to spend most of my time with my Dad. I will try and call you again tomorrow. How are you holding up?

Why Monday for your interferon. It is nice to have some down time so it seems most people here have chosen th or Friday nights. It takes about 6 hours to kick in so best to sleep through it. Most people also pretreat w Tylenol or something.
1200 MG RIBA is based on your weight. 200 MG tabs are better in case your doctor wants to reduce the RIBA at any point due to sx.
Ask your doctor about anemia and procrit. It seems like the most common and in my personal experience the worst sx making me fatigued.
I also had ambien for sleep
And a prescription for rash cream on hand. Don't wait to ask for help with sx.
Ask your doctor how many patients he is currently treating with triple tx? If his answer is you're my first!  I'd be doing my homework and read every post by every person here on triple treatment. Knowledge is power.
Oh only the interferon needs to be refrigerated.
You'll figure it out.
Do the first dose earlier. I do 7am 3 pm and 11pm
9 and 9 for the RIBA. I do Thursday night pegasys. That doesn't have to be exact. And a injection Is really no biggie. If I could give my self a shot once a say and no pills.. I'd be on the no
oral Trial.
Go for it. Good luck.

Jillybean,   Not sure if it is the inc or riba but , i thought i seen where someone posted it needed to be refrig.   either way, both of meds are stored in a very cool place in an insulated bag where they dont get hot or too cold.  but just stay at about 68 degrees.   I hope this is good !
How are you doing,  Ive lost internet service almost all week off and on and then cell when down as well.   I think it was all the storms we have had !
