Stomach Bug, Post Treatment.

I never had any problems with my stomach, until a couple weeks before my Tx
ended. Then I got this "bug".
It looks like this: It starts with lackof appetite (unusual foe me!) and then chills, and diarhoea..and after that, I feel drained, with more chills, and an achey neck.
It hasn't been too bad so far, only two bouts right before my Tx was over, and a couple bouts since it ended 2 weeks ago. I really dont want to do the whole stool sample thing yet, so I am treating it with probiotics, and other natural remedies.
I noticed nobody ever mentioned using Pepto Bismo for stomach upset, during Tx, but I think I may try it now, as it has worked well for me in the past.
Has anybody else experienced this type of bug post Tx,and if so, how did you
treat it?  My eosinophils were at zero last week, on my EOT labs, so I am freaked out thatit may be intestinal parasites :o ~~~~~~~~~~

Pepto has aspirin in it so if one has low platelet issues they probably should not take it.  Just saying since so many have platelet issues due to liver and/or to tx.

Yes, exactly. My digestive problems began, when I stopped eating yogurt on a daily basis. I got sick of it, after eating so much on Treatment, but I actually think it worked very well, my digestion was great, when I was eating it twice a day

I don't know much yet, but I can't imagine that the treatment leaves our stomach's fully functioning for sometime.  Seems if it can kill Hep C. that it might kill our digestive enzymes.  Maybe some yogurt and go light.

Thank you all for your responses :)
The normal range for Absolute Eosinophils is 15-500, so they marked my zero, as low, on my labs. That IS probably why I am freaking out, as when I googled what the eosinophils do, it said they fight intestinal parasites, and other foreigners in the body.
It is kind of typical of me, to worry about "the worms" when I get anxious.
@orphanhawk:  I hadn't known the pipe was still leaking, thank you for the warning, as I do spend time on the shore-line near there :(  Why would they put a Oil Refinery in such a beautiful setting?!
I am going to continue to eat more mild foods, and then I did fine. It is when I eat restaurant food, last time it was Thai Food.  It has only been two weeks, I need to go a little more easy on myself.
@Idyllic: thank you so much for the Pepto Bismo imfo, wow...that sounds kind of harsh.  I will just make an appt for my yearly physical, it was due last month, but did I tell you I hate going to the Doctor?  But then I can get more labs, and see if my platelets have risen any :)

I know you live in the East Bay.
Are you anywhere near that Richmond Chevron plant that had the big fire a few weeks ago ? I read the pipe hasn't been capped and is still leaking.
There's been a lot of complaints about headaches, sore throats, etc.
It's possible it could be related.

I'm looking at my latest bloodwork and it says normal range for eos is 0-7 so not sure why you're. freaked. In your place, I'd go to my family doc and let him figure it out rather than go the Pepto/herbal route. Hope you get to feeling better.

That is weird.

Well here is my 2c:
I am not on tx yet but I had some similar symptoms and asked 4 doctors so far and still have no answer. I tested for Helicobacter Pyloris and is negative.

Funny enough the thing which helps me the most when I have those symptoms is to fast.
At other times I am taking Losec (Omeprazole) for a few days. And digestive enzymes with every meal. I also get ginger tea, it seems to help as well.

Point is, it will be probably difficult to have a diagnose

I also recommend slippery elm. Have a cup of cacao, slippery elm, cinammon and some rice milk or hemp milk (I will add some marple sirup).
Some glutamine will also help with stomach lining

Sorry cannot help more

Wow I am not sure what to suggest since this sounds like it could be your resistance is low and all your lab values are rebounding. Or it could be something serious. Hasn't this been going on a few days already? Your symptoms sound more flu-like than they do based on what I read about internal parasites in humans...but who knows? The topic is clearly over my head.

You probably already read about this yourself but here is another link:
(forgive me since I just noticed this is also an ad promotion. It is consistent with other things I glossed over though)

Is anyone around you exhibiting the same symptoms?
Until someone else responds I am going to offer my 2¢. This is anecdotal and not based on anything but a few of the people who were in my HCV group got sick after treatment. Most think they just need to flush the meds out and drink a lot of water. All that makes sense but at some point if your symptoms do not abate than you might want to make an appointment for  a physical. I know you just had a set of labs. But maybe a stool sample isn't such a bad idea. Why wait until you feel worse?

When all is said and done Pepto-Bismol is pretty much an antidiarrhoeal:
(Yes ,it is a cut & paste from good ol' WIKI - hey it is 2:35 in the morning. What.)

Bismuth subsalicylate (the active ingredient in Pepto-Bismol) is used as an antidiarrheal and to treat some other gastro-intestinal diseases (oligodynamic effect, which relates to killing microbes with small doses of heavy metals).
The means by which this appears to work is still not well documented. It is thought to be some combination of:

Retarding the expulsion of fluids into the digestive system by irritated tissues, by "coating" them.
Reducing inflammation/irritation of stomach and intestinal lining
Killing some bacteria that cause diarrhea. There is evidence that salicylic acid from hydrolysis of the drug is antimicrobial for E. Coli.[3]

In short the Pepto might help. I know you are a strong believer in healing through food but you just came off some heavy duty meds and there is no telling what your body is going through. Not to mention the mental and emotional strain. I would make a doctor's appointment.

I hope you feel better♫
