Swimming ?

Just wondered if anyone swam in a chlorinated pool through triple tx . Was hoping to keep swimming through tx but worried that chlorinated pool may irritate skin ( also sun exposure ? - go out a lot on boat ) . Thanks

Thank You all , this forum is so informative. I am able to plan all my fat foods, my activities , and my meds all through the help I have on this forum. I think I am going to be the best organised person starting triple tx in Australia lol !! I live in an area that has very hot, very long summers and I am finding out that the sun is not going to be my friend this year :( Oh well , its only 6 months tx and then I'll be able to live a healthy happy life ! Thank You once again...

Her are a few older posts with lots of good info about this topic. By "older" I actually mean this year. Many of the same people who responded in these threads:

I swim at nite and I swim often. No problem. I have avoided the sun all thru tx. Also, I'm on boceprevir. I just moisturize really well in the am. Whe n I got a threatening rash, at one point, I nailed it with the triple bond medicated lotion. Had to use that 2X a day for a few days.
Be smart and stay out of the sun. Chlorinated pool=ok.
Cheers,
C

I just got thru summer here, keeping up with my 3 kids. I wore a
zinc oxide sun-screen, huge hats, carryed a sun-umbrella in my car, to stick in the sand, at the beach. And I wore a long-sleeved rash gaurd, which came up high at the neck, when I went in the ocean.
But when I did have the rash, I kept out of the sun completely,
because heat made the itching worse.

Thanks for the advice , will try getting oiled p before swimming and try and avoid sun exposure ! I do know that a lot of drugs do not work well with the sun . I will be treating right through a very hot summer so I will do what I can . Even walking around here early in the morning you get lots of sunlight . Thanks again :)

Sun was the worst thing I did to myself during treatment. I live in fla. and on an overcast winter day (mid 70"s ) I went to the beach with a hoddie and jeans with the sweater unzipped about 6 inches and got the worst rash, when I did go swimming during treating I stayed in the shady side of the pool and had no problems. Good luck  :)

Since skin problems are a common side effect of treatment, staying out of the sun is advised. You'll have a hard enough dealing with dry skin and quite possibly a rash without sun exposure.
If you are going swim, get well oiled and rinse off and apply moisturizer after swimming.

On the boat, wear long sleeves, pants and a hat. Again, use lots of moisturizer.

Well, I began my Triple Tx ( w/Victrelis) on Feb 7th.  I live in the S.F. Bay Area,  and in April, the sun got hotter, and I went for a hike, and got a terrible rash on my torso and back,  which turned into a sun-burn...the sun burned me right thru my light blue tank top!
But the rash stayed and spread all the way up to the top of my head, so I then avoided the sun, and a couple months later,  the rash dissapated.
Then, around July, I got brave, and went in the sun again, and was fine, for July and August, so it just depends. All these side effects continuallt fluctuate, that's the problem.
I did go swimming in the chlorinated pool, but only once, because like you, I worried about dry skin, and dry brittle hair.
Many of us do get joint pain,  and hemolytic anemia, so I did gentle exercise, which consisted of several walks per day. This was enough to keep me somewhat in shape~
