AFP (Alpha-fetoprotein)
NORMAL RANGE 0-8.9 ng/ml is a protein that is often used as a tumor marker for liver cancer. AFP is not normally present in healthy adults, other than pregnant women. High levels may mean active liver disease. This test is also used for detection of liver cancer (hepatocellular cancer).. I just posted another post about some different labs as well. Do you have a complete set of all results? Makes it much more easier to read.
NOTE: It's AFP. not AFB
Good Results
That means you don't have any tumors. You still want to have a biopsy if you haven't had one because that tells you stage and grade of liver damage.
It's a great thing not to have liver cancer but not the end of the testing right yet.
