Hi, just wanted to let you know that this post is 1 1/2 years old.
HCV AB, RIba is this Negative/ Positive?
Band Pattern
5-1-1 (p)/c100 (P) is this Non-reactive/ Reactive?
c33c - is this Non-reactive / Reactive?
c22p - is this Non-reactive / Reactive?
ns5 - is this Non-reactive / Reactive?
hSOD - is this Non-reactive/ Reactive?
If no bands listed above are reactive Or reactivity to the hSOD band only your result is Negative.
If reactivity to any SINGLE HCV antigen band or Reactivity to any HCV antigen band AND to the hSOD band then your result is Indeterminate
If Reactivity to at least two HCV antigen bands which are encoded by different part of the HCV genome then your result is Positive.
I would see an Internal medicine doctor in any case, just to be on the safe side.
This appears to be the testing algorithm for the Riba confirmatory test, which is used
after a reactive screening test.
Riba tests for the 5 Hcv proteins which have various numbers, Ns1/C33/etc. No reactive
bands means a neg Riba test and neg for Hcv antibody.
1 reactive band is indeterminate and depending on which of the 5 proteins is reactive,
means no hcv infection or a definite exposure.
2 or more reactive bands is almost definite for prior exposure to Hcv.
An indeterminate or reactive Riba test leads to the Pcr test, which checks for the virus.
the screening test and the Riba test check for antibody to Hcv.
i dont know much about this test except that it only tells you that you might
have it. refer to your doc.
i think it will will take a viral load test to see for sure.
