The Total Cost of HCV Treatment?...PLS ANSWER ME DIRECTLY

The Total Cost of HCV Treatment...PLS ANSWER ME DIRECTLY

There is no direct answer to this question as the cost will vary from person to person.  Some people have excellent health insurance and those people won't have to pay as much out of pocket expense as another person who has lousy health insurance.  Some people have high co-pays for the meds and other people have to pay a smaller co-pay.  Then, there are some people who will qualify for indigent drug coverage.  Then, you have to take into consideration that some people will clear early on in treatment and not have to treat for as many months as another.  Then, there's the rescue drug issue.  If a person gets anemic and needs Procrit (another expense), or if they need a blood transfusion (another expense), or if they need a rescue drug for low white cells (Neupogen) that would be an extra expense.  So, you see, there is no flat rate set amount of expense to quote you.  One person might have only $5,000.00 out of pocket and another might have $10,000.00 and yet another person might be extremely blessed (and that person would be the rare exception) and only have to pay $200.00.  Susan400

You have gotten many cost experience from many people .. living in different countries ...

You must understand ... everybody's treatment cost's different price ... not 1 persons treatment is the same price ...

You need to check locally , in your area the cost there .... or where ever you will treat ....  if you have to ..

I was on a clinical drug trial.  The only parts that cost me were the "rescue" drugs and those cost me nearly $120 an injection - $120 a week - over and above what my drug plan covered....that was pretty damn expensive for me.

I was coinfected with Hep B also but I cleared that one all on it's own.  About 80% of people clear Hep B on their own as opposed to 20% of people approx. who clear Hep C on their own. I have antibodies for Hep B but now I have natural immunity and I'm non-contagious for Hep B.  Do you know what your Hep B status is? It can be confusing sometimes so if you're unsure you should get that sorted out - you might be all clear on that one.

It depends on many factors: length of treatment, insurance benefits (personal, groups, government sponsorship)  insurance deductibles, drug manufacturers' assistance programs, whether additional drugs are needed, lab costs......
