Vomiting on tx non stop

I have been on tx 6wks now. This thurs will be injection #7. I am taking 1200 og co-peg. daily I understand that one of the side effects is nausia/vom. Mon night I ended up in ER due to constant vomiting of blood. Now this is what ER md explained to me. My being stage 4 with a geno type 3a , the condition which can make my liver decompisates. I get that I guess what is confusing to me is that he said as a result sometimes the blood vessels will "become weak " . Has any one heard of this ? They put me on an anti nausia med zofran.Any help would be accepted. At this point I am starting to wonder why??

Very sorry bout mentioning ginger for your nausia as i DID NOTnotice that you said you were vomiting up blood,i just thought you were just having "normal" nausia problems which ginger is effective.Throwing up blood is serious business so  going to doctor is  a must .

As others have said, see your doctor.  Do not take ginger root because it is a blood thinner,

Hello there, i'm also stage 4 and just finished treating, i agree with Willy on this 100%. My hepatologist would have sh!t if neither i or the ER doctor had not let him know this ASAP.

None of us is Doctors here and you need advice from your Treating GI or hepatologist.

Best to you.

Attention; you need to either get with your gastro or hepatologist.  The symptoms you are experiencing can be life threatening.  Call them visit them page them stat.  Make sure that they are in the loop about your condition.  Don't think you can wing it and continue with advice from a message board.

What this sounds like is this;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Esophageal_varices

People can bleed to death from these.

If you have another (the one in the ER?) doctor telling you that you may be decompensating that is yet another wake up call.  While you are on wikipedia you can also look that one up.

Neither of these are good; both are super serious.  You need a qualified and involved doctor to check you out again and make sure that you can "stay the course".  You will need a lot of attention if you are treating while decompensating and (if it is varices) vomiting blood.  I'm a little surprised that you are still treating.

Get hold of someone, and quickly. (I wonder if a second opinion is worthwhile?)

best,
Willy

Hello! Wow, that sux...The idea behind treating when you are stage 4 (?grade) is, if you are able to ditch the hep c, the inflammation should decrease, allowing your liver to compensate better and longer. If your nausea is 24/7 then you can be prescribed a med patch (scopalamine, phenrgan, or zofran) that will release meds slowly into your system. Are you eating anything with your meds? My Hepatologist suggested to eat something with a fat/oil content (even if it was a small amount), as the riba is more readily absorbed when it mixes with something other than water...I'd have a cracker with peanut butter, or a spoon or two of ice cream if I didn't feel like eating. I wonder if your Dr was referring to esophageal varicies? They are like a hemorrhoid (distended and weakened vein) in the base of your esophagus caused by liver "congestion" (blood backing up from it being inflamed and the vessels narrowed). If this is the case, then if you haven't, you need to see a GI Dr and get them taken care of. People can bleed to death from the buggers if they are large enough....good luck, and I hope this was helpful...:) ~MM
