  Hematologic Effects
Risk of anemia.1 Concomitant use of boceprevir, peginterferon alfa, and ribavirin has been associated with greater decreases in hemoglobin concentrations than use of peginterferon and ribavirin without boceprevir.1 Increased incidence of adverse reactions consistent with symptoms of anemia (e.g., dizziness, dyspnea, syncope) reported when boceprevir added to peginterferon and ribavirin regimen.1 In clinical trials, dosage modification of peginterferon alfa and/or ribavirin, erythropoiesis stimulating agents, and transfusions used more frequently in patients receiving boceprevir with peginterferon alfa and ribavirin than in those receiving peginterferon alfa and ribavirin without boceprevir.1

Risk of severe or life-threatening neutropenia, including life-threatening infections associated with neutropenia.1 In clinical trials, more patients receiving boceprevir, peginterferon alfa, and ribavirin experienced neutrophil counts <500/mm3 than those receiving peginterferon alfa and ribavirin.1

I wanted to add a link, which mentions "Victrelis/Teleprivir resistance, which I mentioned in the above post. I am just stressing that it is very important to take our PI exactly on time, to avoid developing a resistance. Interferon and Ribavirin DONT have this problem, and can be used over, but not the the 1st generation PI's, unfortunately

I'm surprised people didn't know about the increased infection, that went with Victrelis...most of us have had problems with these infections, from the very start!  I went to the dentist, 3 days before treatment, and everything was fine. I've also never had a small cut near my nail, that woudn't heal, like the one the I had on my thumb. My Doctor said this was cmmon with the 1st generation PI"s and prescribed an antibiotic which cleared up both infections right away, which is why it is a good idea to talk to your Doctor at first sign of infection, before it snow-balls.
I dont think a little weed will hurt, but anything that causes intoxication, effects the kidney and liver: what goes up, must come down. Sometimes a little humor is marvelous medicine...group hug, fellow heppers? : D

Boceprevir may lower the ability of your body to fight infection. Avoid contact with people who have colds or infections. Tell your doctor if you notice signs of infection like fever, sore throat, rash, or chills.

The thing that is different about TX with Triple Therapy, vs just the Inf/Riba is that we have to take our PI every 8 hrs, which is 3 times a day. It has to be exact, unlike the Riba, which stays in the system longer. If a person misses a couplle doses, tolerance builds up, according to my Doctor.
One of the side effects of Marajuana, is forgetfullness. So make sure, if you choose to you it for sx, to put an alarm on yr cell ph, and put yr meds in one of those handy 30 day calendar boxes, with the little square compartments, good luck!

He said he was on Triple TX. As soon as I added the zvictrelis, I got a tooth infection and a nail infection, I will look for a link on this, but I was referring to the 1st generation PI he is taking~

I would go with moderation, during TX, because once our WBC's drop, our immune systems dont work as well, and bacteria and fungi can flourish. I have noticed people mentioning dry coughs ( I have one, form the sx of anemia right now) asthma ( I have that also, but it's mild) and bronchitis infections, and also pneumonia. So, smokong anything will irritate your lungs, and smoking marajuana sapps the body,of Vitamin C. Also, daily smoking builds up in your system, and of course,is fairly addictive.
That being said, if you need to find pain relief, I think a toke off of a vaporiser, would be better then any kind of sleeping pill, or psych drug, fo sho.
I chose to break my daily smoking habit, because I wanted my immune systme to be as strong as poosible. I have noticed, when I have caught cold viruses in the past, that if I quit smoking pot for a few days, I would heal much faster. And the Hep C is a virus as well.
I was a daily smoker for 32 yrs, so I decided I had reached my limit with it, because my biopsy showed stage 2 fibrosis, and I had quit drinking and other drugs 13 yrs ago.

i tried it when i was really sick in the beginning of triple...it did work great ....like better then any other drug ...i smoked it twice..but that was it...my hgb tanked and the new kind of sick i was dealing with really threw me for a loop..i couldn't take anything but zofran for the sickness and gagging...and dealt with pains....maybe if i had ingested the pot it would have worked better... easy enough to melt butter in a pan..add sifted pot...do the old cheese cloth trick straining it and there ya go!...i can't imagine how well pot must work for cancer tx....my doctor wasn't into his patients doing pot....but i think also big time doctors have to be careful what they push out there...billy

I used cannabis brownies after my shot, to deal with the muscle pain~ made me relax.
My doctor tends to agree to whatever keeps you on treatment.
He was okay with my doing it in moderation.

It shouldn't hurt you and it may even help with the sx's.  That said, if you're in a clinical trial it may not be a good idea.  I've never heard of anyone being tested for marijuana abuse in a clinical trial but I have heard of one person being tested for alcohol.  I don't think it would be a good idea to ask them if it would be ok if you smoked a little weed so you may be on your own on this idea.  Personally I don't think weed would help you much but some people on here like it.  Some people ask their doctor first, so maybe you can try that, idk.
