Weight Loss

I'm on week 31 of tx.  The HepC is no longer active and I only have 17 weeks remaining on the program.  The results are very positive.  However, I still suffer from all the major side effects and had to go on leave to try and just focus on my health.  The most important one to me has been my weight loss.  Since the beginning, 03/09, I've lost 60 lbs and am still loosing.  My appetite has been little to none, but I am attempting to change that.  Although I still don't desire food, I force myself to eat, but need help trying to figure out what I should eat that will stay in my system longer and give me the nutrients I need to help me stay strong.  I drink an Ensure daily but have been warned by all my doctors not to drink more than one due to the high protein, could be harmful to my liver.  I take various vitamins daily, drink various smoothies, eat 3 well balanced meals (portions are smaller), and attempt to eat some sort of snack in between.  But still nothing seems to work.  I'm afraid that my drastic weight loss will make me sick in other ways that the tx doesn't.  I need help.  I constantly ask my doctors and each of them tell me it is due to the tx.  Is there anything I can consume or take to stop me from loosing any more weight?  If I loose more weight but know that what I consume keeps me healthy, I can live with that.  At this point, I will try any and everything I can.  Years ago I wished I could weight this little, but now it scares me.  Thank you.

Ensure claims to contain nutritional ingredients which aid a person’s normal diet, but the ingredients contained are mostly synthetic or chemical substances with little proven benefits for dieters. The actual nutrients — namely, Vitamin A and Vitamin D3 — are also listed in the lower half on the ingredient list, indicating it is used in smaller doses in comparison to the rest of the ingredients. These ingredients, if used in larger doses, may have provided nutritional benefits to dieters who are not able to eat a sensible plan, but the lower dosage may lessen these benefits. Furthermore, any diet-related benefits could not be located. It appears Ensure may match the caloric content of an average meal (say, 300 calories or so) but as a nutritional supplement, may not contain the amount dieters may desire for optimum nutrition.

I had the same problem with weight loss during tx.  I have only gained 5 lbs of it back since stopping tx  3 1/2 months ago.  Way too thin!

After the weight loss began I ate a lot of ice cream, cookies, cakes, chips, pancakes, pasta, peanut butter sandwiches, etc and all foods with high calorie content.  It did not help much and I did manage to gain a few lbs, but I strongly feel eating that way kept me from losing more weight.

I to was concerned about the weigh lost but so far it has not caused any further health problems.  Try to increase your calories to prevent further loss.
