Thank you for the information
Susan-
First let me apologize for the poor diagnostics of my peers, and the torture you are experiencing! I AM a doc, and have some critical info for you.
Aldolase, like many other enzymes, is broken down into subenzymes, or ISOENZYMES. This is the breakdown:
ALDOLASE A: this enzyme is elevated in heart, and muscle disorders, as well as many cancers.
ALDOLASE B: is elevated in liver conditions, and rises along with liver enzymes ALT and AST ESPECIALLY in HEP C.
ALDOLASE C: elevated in brain issues
SO-
They need to order Aldo ISOENZYMES A, B & C.
With this one can derive the source and eliminate heart vs. liver, muscle disease vs. liver, and with a proportional rise in ALT and AST, it can point to Aldolase B, and specifially to Hep C. Of course, every Hep C patient needs to be evaluated for Liver cancer, but that is a standard evaluation.
After the Aldolase Isoenzymes are done, you may very well have your answer. And if your liver enzymes are up along with aldolase, this may very well be Hep C alone!
Good Luck and be well!
Dr. Lori
I thought CPK was a cardiac enzyme, that's elevated after a heart attack. I looked it up though and CK shows damage to other muscle as well. Here's the website:

Good luck geting in,
