What "good" fats are you eating?

I am in my 5th week of triple treatment and am having a heck of a time eating 20gm of fat 3x's a day. Dr. said I should be eating 20gm. of fat 20 minutes before each dose of my incivek. Well, I am having trouble eating at all for that matter. Besides peanut butter, nuts or avocados (which all taste gross now) does anyone have any other favorites they could suggest? This has become a real struggle for me, especially the late night dose at 11:00pm. Who the heck wants to eat 2 tbs. of peanut butter just before bed.  ; - )  Help.

Thank you so much for all the foody tips. The part about the turkey made me burst out laughing. I scared my doggie. You described my feeling about eating perfectly (force feeding etc.). Your words have helped me so much. Thanks so much for taking the time!

Hi there.
I found eating first thing in the morning, and late at night difficult. I also have a hiatus hernia, so eating late isn't an option. So I eat Greek Yoghurt, full fat (10gms fat per serve x 2 serves) for 1st and last Incivek. I also think the probiotics may help with things as well. Icecream is also easy to get down late at night, and you only need a cup of full fat vanilla.
sometimes I am caught out for the 3pm meds, and then some of the 'health' bars you can get have 20gms fat. No point posting brand names coz different in the US to here.
I DO try to have a more balanced meal for the 3pm Incivek. A home made fish burger,( Roll 4 gms fat, frozen fish portion 7gms, 2 tbs mayonaise 10gms etc.). A home made pizza on pita bread, with a fat tasty cheese, a couple of anchovies, slices of salami, some ham maybe etc, makes up 20 gms nicely.
An avocado, big one, has close to 20gms fat, just put a teaspoon of full fat salad dressing in each half, and good fats are yours.
An egg has 5gms of fat in its yolk, so 2 eggs, 2 pieces of bacon, a piece of toast spread with avocado etc and alittle side salad is a good mix.
I am just not into food at all. I can look forward to my meal finally at 3pm, but then have no interest in eating for my evening Riba at 7pm, where we should be eating some fats to help with the absorbtion of the Riba. Then of course, force feeding again at 10.30pm for 11pm meds.
I feel like a turkey being force fed for pate de fois gras.
And I thought I would have it all down pat by week 8 at least. But no. I never know how I am going to feel, and foods I used to eat, like canned fish etc, are nauseating.
Anyway, good luck. Time DOES go reasonably quickly, if you count each day as it is gone.
PM me if you want some more ideas. If I know what you do and don't like, or can and can't eat, I can throw some ideas your way. I am gluten intolerant, so I need to think a little bit harder.

Click on "Back to Community" at the top of this page.  Then type "incivek and fats" in the "Search Community" box just under the Hepatitis C Community
heading.  You will find over 600 postings about fats and direction and ideas for fats you can eat. I found you really do need to change it up and sometimes it's a struggle.  Some people just mixed olive oil with food to
increase healthy fat.  Some people just drank it.  I think I might have done that a few times.  Look at the referenced posts on the forum.  I have to say people have shown real creativity with this.  Happy reading.
