I keep my razor, nail clippers, tweezers in my bedroom in a drawer. No ACCIDENTAL use by family members this way.
I used to keep a virginal "dummy" tooth brush in my bathroom, as no one really knows who will use what behind that door. My real toothbrush and used razors were kept in a bedroom drawer.
Not likely, but that's the reason that wife and I use different brands. Also do not allow barber to use straight razor for hair cut 'clean up'. Wife brings own tools for manicure/pedicure. For many personal hygiene things around our house we are 'color-coded'.
I suspect that is how I may have contracted the virus. I loaned my razon to someone who I later discovered had Hep (at that time, 1975, there was no "C"), I was 17 years old. On the other hand, before I was diagnosed (in 1997), It wasnt uncommon for me to shave the back of my sons necks after their mom cut their hair....thank God, none of my children have hep! Get tested. Not sharing personal items is a good rule in general, - just for personal hygiene purposes! Wish you well!

People have been married or otherwise together for 30 years or more without contracting hep c from their partner. In 30 years there is a good chance of mistakenly using someones razor or toothbrush. So I wouldn't worry about it. It if really bothers you get tested. If you have it though it still doesn't mean you got it that way. You could of gotten from a medical procedure. Which has been in the news a lot lately.

My husband and I have been married for almost 15 years. I have had hep C for over 20. I have used his razor many times and he has never gotten hep c. That does not mean it is ok to do. It is a way of transmission but like someone said before one of the most unlikely ways. Just be careful not to do it anymore. Get checked to be secure in your own mind.
About 9 years ago i was staying with my brother and on 2-26-2008 he died of causes that are still pending. I just found out that he had hep c. I don't remember if i used his razor and now Im worried. im going to get tested tomorrow. Im REALLY worried. in numbers what are the chances of getting hep c thru the use of a razor?
Thanks for your thoughts, still waiting on the results w/ fingers crossed...
Possible in theory, in reality VERY unlikely.
Sharing razors is a possible transmission route for hep-c, as are sharing toothbrushes, getting tattoos, body piercings, manicures, even acupuncture, but those are not the most common ways of becoming infected.
