Type "20 grams of fat" and you will find many posts and suggestions.

I've found that the eating part to be difficult because if my constant nausea. I drink organic tea with enough 1/2 & 1/2 in it and the warm milk effect makes me full and sleepy. I have type 2 diabetes and the regimented eating schedule has actually helped that aspect. I only eat the 20 grams 3x a day without snacking for fear of weight gain (just lost all of my baby weight & then some) and have actually lost weight and I'm too tiered to exercise! I also drink an all natural mint infused water which REALLY helps, Metro Mint. If you are in fear of weight gain stay away from carbs & sugar if possible and you should be good. I know, easier said than done!!!

I didn't eat food with fat. Instead I took both the riba and incivik with "whole" milk. Worked for me.

I live in Minnesota and there is quackgrass here, but I also lived in San Francisco and there was even more quackgrass, lol. I don't know how you escaped seeing quackgrass, it seems to be everywhere (49 of 50 states). Creeping Jenny seems to be everywhere too. Maybe you have seen both but they are called different names where yoy live. I used them as examples because they spread like crazy and are difficult to get rid of or even control.

"Quackgrass--Agropyron repens--is a perennial weed, and a troublesome weed to eliminate from the home landscape. The Latin name means a 'sudden field of fire', and attests to its ability to take over lawns, fields and gardens."

http://www.extension.umn.edu/yardandgarden/ygbriefs/h507quackgrass.html

"Golden creeping Jenny is a  low-growing, rampant, evergreen groundcover with rounded, golden yellow leaves. ... Problems: Can be invasive."

thanks you are so kind for replying.  yeah i did forget about the zyrtec.  I'll see if I still have some.  I try anything until I feel it works even alittle.  Even a placebo effect can cause alittle relief for a minute.  I am on wellbutrin.  Funny cause it did help me to quit smoking as well.  The wellbutrin gives me a little pick me up which is good. and now I am going to bed and going for the ointment and later I will get up and use the calamine lotion.  It would seem one just cancels out the other but like i said...I'll try anything.  Good to know that maybe this rash will clear up in a few areas and of course move to another.  This is definitely the "Riba rash".  This past yr before tx I did not have much of a rash only itching without any sign of bumps ...rash whatever...sometimes ....privately i call it the creeping crud.  2 yrs ago I thought bugs were eating me alive.  Not like I have bugs but had no idea what was happening to me then.  Oh well..stayed at my mom's today for a few hrs as to not be alone.  Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.  As alway I am extremely grateful to all who respond.

Okay, you are on the strong ointment. I see you had the itching before treatment. Maybe that has something to do with it. I don't know. I just know my itching is from a Riba rash and the meds do help even though I still have the rash 2 months after it started. It moves around. I clear up a few areas and the rash moves next door, kind of like quack grass or creeping jenny, lol. I know it would be considerably worse without the meds.

Hydroxyzine probably does make me sleepy but the zyrtec does not.

I don't know your history and I don't know if you are already on antidepressants, but interferon can cause depression so you may want to talk with your doc (preferably a psychiatrist) about an antidepressant if you are depressed. I am on one and I am sure it has helped me stay stable while on treatment.

I hope things get better for you.

thanks yeah that's it I do use that fluocinide ointment and not the otc stuff.  I guess it is better than nothing.  I try all the above.  of course I would sleep all day if I took the hydroxzine and zytec daily and that would get me all depressed.  I think depression is worse of the 2 evils. I always appreciate the comments. and I usually learn something new.

I know about the itching as I have had a bad rash and itching since mid. Dec. I am on 20 mg. Hydroxyzine every night, 10 mg. Zyrtec every am, and fluocinonide ointment twice a day to the rash. I can tell you that the Hydrocortizone cream (over the counter) did nothing for this rash and itching, and that is why I am on the fluocinonide ointment, which is stronger and also an ointment. It relieves the itching within minutes usually. I would be nuts without it. Perhaps ask your doc for a stronger cream or ointment. The ointment is greasy but it stays on your skin.

oh can't they give me some iron if my blood level are low?  Such as rbc's and hemoglobin etc... won't that help so that I can breath better after walking and not feel so week in the legs? again I just feel like a cry baby today

oh my bilirubin is slightly high not much as before it was 44 and cholestyramine helped then didn't.  It wasn't consistent but at least it works when the itching was real bad.  It binds to the billirubin and eliminates it from the blood.  So I am taking that again.  Still itching.  I suffered with that for the last few years and it started to get better but this triple tx is making it almost intolerable again.  You would think I would be use to it.  I can never get use to this itiching.  Then there are those well meaning people that believe I should try "cures doctors do not want you to know about"  as if I'm not confused and agitated enough.  The hep c has progress to cirrhosis so I don't think a vitamin or mineral will cure it do you?  I wish.

thank you all I got some good ideas.  yeah I have a itichy rash.  new that would happen since i already itched alot anyhow. This is enough to drive me nuts.  I know not to pick but it is so hard not to.  The ice i do sometimes, atarax, hydrocotosone creams, aveeno bath.  not much helps.  These bumps are hideous and I'll scar again.  It *****.  yeah my hemoglobin and hematocrit is low but no other labs were gone over.  I have my four wk appt in a wk I think.  I have these stupid  surge of emotinons (twice) when I cried for no apparent reason. other than I am sick of feeling sick.  I hate not being able to breath just because I take a few steps.  I tell my self " al bit of pain for alot of gain" but truely I am not sure I can make it 40 more wks.  I see now that the side effect do creep up.  I realize it could be worse and taking it a day at a time but geez I am tired thank you all.  My viral load in a wk or so will detirmine if the docs think this will work and if I will continue tx as you know.  part of me hopes the viral load is high.  but I have a son left and a dog so the other part wants cured. I feel like such a cry baby.

Try to eat something solid with the pills too, even if it is just buttered toast, along with your yogurt ot other fat food.

Idyilic and Jodao:

Regular (NOT low fat) Greek yogurt has a lot of fat in it. I think about 8 ounces has 20 grams but check the label. Also, the more or less plain type (it is still very rich and sweeet enough) has more fat thatn the flavored ones. (I think mine said just Honey).

Also, eggnog has 20 grams in a cup but now it is after the holidays so I don't know if you can get it now.

Whippinmg cream. You can throw that in anything, yogurt, on raspberies, in cerial, etc. and get your 20 grams of fat or add some if what you ate did not have enough.

Mayonaiseis high fat but check the label. If you make a sandwich and butter the bread and then put mayo on it that might do it.

I practically lived on Greek yogurt and eggnog so the calories packed themselves on. I gained a lot of weight (about 25 pounds, lol) on the fat but probably because I had recenlty lost 22 pounds (over the summer). However, I have been off Incivek now for 6 weeks and I already lost 13 of those pounds I gained.

As for side effects, they tend to creep up on you and they change from week to week. You may have only very mild side effects but if you get a rash, or anal pain, or anything else, post and we can give you some remedies.

Jodao,

The side effects will come, but maybe they'll be mild for you.  You might want to prepare yourself for gaining some weight.  It'll be nearly impossible to eat 60gms of fat each day without gaining weight.  Water and fat intake are very important.

Idyilic,

There were times while on Incivek that I couldn't force solid fats into my mouth.  I ended up drinking eggnog or 1 cup of melted ice cream.  Ice cream may not be the healthy choice, but it was the easiest way to get the right amount of fat with Incivek.

Don't look for the sx. Some may not come. Not everyone has bad sx.
I think less than a week is too soon to tell.
Remember this is a select group on the internet.
Smarter than most and probably with more issues or they wouldn't be searching
for the very wise advise they get here.

Wishing you mild sx

The side effects tend to progress the longer you treat. Who knows though, yours may not be as profound as many others so I don't want to plant the seed suggesting you will be plenty miserable next month at this time. The thing is, as we go along quite often the lab values of certain serum levels necessary for functioning at 100% change. I'm thinking mainly Hemoglobin (Hgb) and absolute neutrophil count (ANC).

I'm glad you are feeling OK so far♫

lol some will quibble whether this is food or not but for some brands it says so right on the can! Potted Meat Food Product = one 3oz can = 12g fat plus a tbs or two of mayo = 17 / 22g. I think its really dog food for humans, Arf! Then there is Vienna Sausage in a can. Eat all seven links and that will put you over the top. Any of the assorted cellophane covered pastries in grocery store are around 18 to 23+ grams fat. Generally I avoid green or orange foods but as strange as it sounds to me it seems many in the forum actually like them. If you are one and haven't gagged already remember it's just to get you past the one or two times of low appetite, when in a hurry, or change of pace designed to boost appreciation of your daily peanut butter dose.

Hey thanks.  I haven't been on the meds long yet ... not even a wk.  I am not feeling any side effects which I am surprised. Maybe itching but not sure because that has come and gone often.  Do you know if one is to feel side effects would I have felt them by now?  My appetite is still here but as I said it has not been a wk yet.  I injected myself of Sunday and my 2nd injection isn't due yet. I am on the incevik and RIBA.  I really don't want to gain wt.

I wouldn't worry about the weight- the interferon/ RIBA/ incevik will decrease your appetite- so my husband at 7.5 weeks of this has not gained a single pound. He doesn't exercise , he just doesn't get much down bedsides the fat & meds right now.
