From the US Center for Disease Control

Hepatitis A usually spreads when a person unknowingly ingests the virus from objects, food, or drinks contaminated by small, undetected amounts of stool from an infected person. Hepatitis A can also spread from close personal contact with an infected person such as through sex or caring for someone who is ill.

Hepatitis B is spread when blood, semen, or other body fluid infected with the Hepatitis B virus enters the body of a person who is not infected. People can become infected with the virus during activities such as: Birth (spread from an infected mother to her baby during birth) Sex with an infected partner.

Thank you very much for your support..
I have some confusion..

1)Is that possible that due to that intercourse I get hepatitis ??
What are Chances??

2)is that possible my antibody response to HIV is delayed because of I have hepatitis (if I have,I do not know). And due to that my HIV test is coming negative ??

Please help..
1. I personally have no idea what the odds are. I am not a doctor I am a patient who had hep c for 37 years before I was cured. No one here is a medical professional. For the best answer to a medical question I suggest you ask your doctor and believe their answers.

Per the material I relayed to you from the US CDC it did say there is a risk. And since they are experts and I am not I would believe what they have to say that there is a small risk if sexual transmission more so if we are discussing hep B. Of course this possible risk is only the case if your partner has Hepatitis. If they do not there is no risk.

Have you considered simply asking your partner? That would be a lot simpler than worrying unnecessarily and getting possibly unnecessary testing.

2. Having HIV can delay seroconversion for other viral infections because HIV effects the immune system. For someone who has HIV it can delay the development of antibodies and thus the detectability of Hep C.

Hep C on the other hand attacks the liver it does not effect the immune system like HIV so having hep c has no effect on HIV testing.

But all in all if I were to bet my uneducated guess is you have nothing to worry about.

However, please don’t take my word on this. You need to discuss this with your own personal physician for intelligent, informed medical advice.

If you are asking about the hep C antibody test that test is good at 12 weeks post exposure. If you have a compromised immune system for example if you have AIDS then if may take as long as 6 months for enough antibodies to develop.

But for those with normal immune response 12 weeks is most probably adequate.

You could save yourself future worries by always using barrier protection when having relations outside the confines of a long term monogamous relationship.

For other forms of hepatitis try your question in those forums or better yet ask your doctor.

There are no doctors here this is a support community for those living with Hepatitis C, it’s treatment and aftermath of long term infection. Primarily this is a support community for patients.

Best of luck to you.

I take test of hiv and doctor said you are negative. How I have aids ??
You don't have aids or hep c your test is conclusive

Have a great day
I am only tested for HIV.

I have not taken test of hepatitis.

Do I need to take hepatitis test ??

Do I get infected to hepatitis due to single and first sexual intercourse with girl.???

I have done unprotected veginal sex.

Please reply..
Your reply are very helpful.
The spread of hep c through sexual contact is possible but unlikely, if your worried get tested, the test will be conclusive in the time frame you have given.
Thank you so much...

What about hepatitis a and b ??

Is they transmit through sex ??
