Not less side effects..., if anything you will have more side effects because the new drugs have their side effects that are added to the mix.  With that being said, some people never have side effects even with SOC, so it's not a given that you will get any side effects, but don't be shocked by it, if you do get them.

There is definitely a chance and the studies show increased and varied side effects with these drugs + they will be administered with Inf/Riba  ... 3 drugs sides to contend with ..

IMO the best way to proceed would be to educate yourself more , so you can make an informed decision ... using AASLD , EASL , CCO websites , there are many other informative websites also ... just have a look around the net ...

If you are considering them , realize they will be new & understand most doctors & HCV doctors included , do not yet have experience with the new drug cocktail , that means as a patient , to do allot of research and be aware of your own personal situation during treatment ... careful monitoring required

Unfortunately there's no guarantee of a reduced treatment time for 100% of patients ...many folks will rapid viral respond (RVR) , some will not .... no RVR = 48 wks. Tx, anyone who is not treatment naive (first time to treat) and is a non responder or relapser to SOC Tx will have to treat 48 weeks ....

Boce & Tele have different Tx routines ... not all RVR responders will attain SVR .... many will , around 72% , the clinical trial results show ...

IL28b CC , CT , TT allele & the patients liver condition will play a part in deciding who will use these drugs & as they will be new ... and many folks are already signed up to try them .... there may be supply issues & doctor patient load's to contend with for a while after they are commercially licensed to be sold to the public ....

Good luck , Aaron

They are not mono therapy. They are used along with Interferon and Ribavirin.  Although tx time may decrease, the sx will not be less.  Boce and Tela have their own sx. So now you have to deal with the sx of three drugs.  But less time on drugs so the duration is less but the intensity will not decrease
