alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme test

I'm 22 years old (male), I'm from Romania and in the past 3 years my alkaline phosphatase is verry high -> 5 or 6 times higher than the normal. I was investigated in a lot of clinics and hospitals in Romania (in Timisoara, Cluj, Bucharest...) and nobody could told me why my alkaline phosphatase is so high... The doctors investigate almost any organ of my body that can generate such an higher level of alkaline phosphatase. I have a lot of pains around my bones and in my muscles... but only when I try to move a part of my body and only around that part... The doctors found me a Gilbert sindrome and a discret Polyneurophaty (I tryed my best to translate...)
I had searched the internet to find a site who can help me to find a laboratory who can do the alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme test, but all the sites told me what the alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme test is, and how it's done... What I want to ask is: How I can find a laboratory ( that is in Europe <closer to Romania> ) that can do the alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme test? (How I can send my blood to that laboratory?...) This information means a lot to me... I apologise for my English... Best wishes and I hope you can help me!

Were you diagnosed with Gilbert's Syndrome?  If so, that is a benign condition where your liver is not able to clear bilirubin.

As for your Alk Phos; levels can increase due to bone or liver disease.  Have you been checked for Paget's Disease?  Also, if you have neuropathy, have they checked your blood glucose levels?

Hopefully by now you have found answers or this has helped.  Good luck.

Hello.  Welcome.  Sorry you have a problem.  I can't give you the answer you are after as I know absolutely nothing about Europe, but I do have something else I'd like to share.

I'm sure not a doctor and know very little about what I'm talking about, but ... my 11 year old son has Alkaline Phosphatase in the high 200's.  We have wonderful health insurance (thank God) so could afford to have him checked out to the fullest.  It was determined that bone growth was what was giving the high reading.  Have you been in a growing spell since having these high enzymes or perhaps had broken bone(s) that are healing?  Just a thought.  Again, don't stop looking for your answer.  I just wanted to share.

God Bless,

Pattie

Thanks anyway... My growing has stoped aprox. 3 years ago... ( no broken bone(s)). I was "checked out to the fullest" too. (all investigations are normal. A doctor told me that from 10 healthy persons - 5 will find out that they aren't so healthy if they will perform all the investigations that I performed... and I... I am a part of the other 5 persons...) The only investigation that I wasn't able to do was the alkaline phosphatase isoenzyme, because the romanian hospitals are not performing this test anymore...(for about 2-3 years). The doctors in Romania told me that I must find a foreign hospital where I can send my blood to perform this investigation because they asked their colegs in Germany and Franch and they said that there are not performing this test anymore... In Romania the state is paing for all the investigation that are done in the country... and for other investigation I found a sponsor that will help me... so money (or the insurance) aren't so important in my case. Multumesc "califia". I wish you all good health!!!

P.S. Meanwhile I found a hospital in UK (Monklands Hospital). Now I must get in touch with them...

Perhaps it is best to ask the personnel at the hospitals and clinics you have already visited.   I cannot offer any other advice, but as an American with two Roumanian grandparents,  I just had to say hello and wish you good health.  !Mult noroc!
