antibodies

Hello, I have tested positive for hep c antibodies.  They can not detect a viral load in my system.  My Dr. said it is possible I have the antibodies but not the virus.  She will test me again in about 6 months.  Can I get tested sooner then this to detect whether or not I only have the antibodies? Is there a specific test that can detect whether I just have the antibodies or the actual virus. I had some extensive blood work done when I was first diagnosed.  I don't know how to tell if I had  PCR test or not. I had no idea I had this until I donated blood.  I was informed that I probably received it from a blood transfusion I had as a child.  Please any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You
