biopsy results are in

I just did my first biopsy,  I'm at stage 1 fibrosis with little to minimal damage. So my decision on treatment will be to wait for at least a year for something other than interferon if there's anything available by then. Being genotype 2b my Dr said I will only need 6 months of treatment depending on how my body reacts and so forth. So this is good news I think!?!

Thanks, yeah I'll probably wait until next year to treat. I have to be able to work while treating, I couldn't do it with the digs available right now. What's the D3 for? And forgive me for sounding like a moron but I honestly don't know. Is it like vit D?

You're a genotype 2b,so as you probably know if you do treatment now your looking at 24 weeks of treatment on SOC then 6 months recovery period with a 80 to 90% chance of getting a SVR.Or you cross your fingers and gamble that the all oral treatment comes out next year.

Now on the SOC treatment I'm going through in a few if and buts, you might be able shorten  the treatment and this all depends if you get a  RVR and how well your tolerating your treatment. So it's a bit of a roll of the dice.Since you have very minimal damage to your liver you can take the gamble that the all oral will be coming out soon and you can wait.

I don't have anything much to recommend for your fever besides the tynanol you are taking. The only thing I can suggest to boost your immune system is to take vitamin C and D3.

She told me no more than 1,000 mg a day for pain, fever ect. But try not to take it unless absolutely necessary.  So I'm trying not to take anything at all. It's hard to change a lifestyle where you're used to doing things a certain way. Now I can't And im okay with it, but it's not easy!!

Thanks for the info. I actually just read one of those articles before seeing your post. I'm not sure what's going on with this low temp situation. Just have to keep an eye on it and if it keeps going on I'll see my Dr again.  Maybe they're missing something. Thanks for the articles they're very helpful and I've been taking your advice on getting a little more educated on the hepc virus and other things I'm going to need to know as I go through this. It's so great to know I'm definitely not alone!!!

Sunshine, be sure to ask your doctor before taking Tylenol. I know your stage of liver damage is minimal, but Tylenol processed through the liver and it does/can create an extra burden on the liver. Run it by your Hep C doc.

I did go see my doctor,  and my gastrointestinal Dr. Because I was having abdominal pain. They ran all kinds of scans,  tests ect ... all normal. My white count was 6.1 not an infection, I started taking a statin drug for my cholesterol being outrageously high. They both said this could be the cause but I'm not 100% sure. Guess its possible, but I feel like crap. I have to take the meds though, Even with a strict diet and exercise my cholesterol is still over 300.

What do you mean by feeling physically ill. The vast majority of hepatitis C patients have no symptoms at all. There are 3-4 million Americans walking around with hepatitis C and don't know they are infected because hepatitis C usually has no symptoms.
What symptoms do you have that you think are caused by hepatitis C?

A low grade temperature is not a symptom of hepatitis C. Many things can cause low grade temperatures. The most common being an infection. Others are more serious.
You should go see a primary doctor and find out what is causing you to feel ill.

Good luck.

I guess I do have concerns about waiting on treatment. If doing the treatment right away will make me feel better physically after the fact. Then I would rather treat now but I don't think I would be able to work and go through treatment right now. This low grade temp I've been running is kicking my *** is there anything I can do to or take besides tylenol?

The first non-interferon therapy (Sofosbuvir + Ribavirin) will be by Gilead and available in the 1st quarter of 2014 assuming all remaining trials continue to look good. This treatment will only be for genotypes 2/3. Treat is for 12 weeks.

For genotype 1 patients Gilead will file for regulatory approval of the fixed-dose combination (Sofosbuvir + GS-5885) by mid-2014 and be available in 2015. Treatment may be 12 or 16 weeks.

You have plenty of time to wait these or future generations (being younger helps too) of all oral, non-interferon treatments.

Cheers!
