I've been getting weekly draws and since I became anemic it was important to closely monitor my levels.
It was every 2 weeks for the CBC for me until my ANC tanked. If your levels go low, you might be referred to a hemotologist who can better monitor and address these issues. If rescue drugs are needed, the monitoring might be more frequent.
Another thing to consider, along with what linda mentioned, it to have your vitamin D level checked. After reading this forum, I had mine tested and learned I was deficient, which can easily be adjusted by taking supplements.
So it looks like the 2 week check is normal.
Vertex recommends the following which seems reasonable for the hematology evaluations as long as values are holding. Different doctors use different protocols, some like more testing.
Hematology evaluations (including white cell differential count) are recommended at weeks 2, 4, 8 and 12 or as clinically appropriate thereafter.
Chemistry evaluations (electrolytes, serum creatinine, uric acid, hepatic enzymes, bilirubin, and TSH) are recommended as frequently as the hematology evaluations or as clinically indicated.
HCV-RNA levels should be monitored at weeks 4 and 12 to determine combination treatment duration and assess for treatment futility.
For me it has been every 2 weeks for normal labs and I start week 10 tomorrow
I have had lab work at wk 1,2,4,6,8,10 and 12 scheduled so far, just had 4 week lab draw today
