My husband didn't have this problem while he was on therapy for Hep C, but he did have significant aching, swelling, and bruising and an open wound that wouldn't heal on his leg a few years ago. We learned that he had venous reflux, which is a condition where the large veins in the legs are not functioning properly to bring blood back up the leg. Since the circulation was poor, the veins were swelling, his leg was bruising, and wounds weren't healing. He was referred to a vascular surgeon who did several ultrasounds on both legs and found he had this condition on both legs. The surgeon felt that if he didn't treat the problem, he would have increasing problems with pain, swelling, bruising, and non-healing wounds. So, my husband had two surgical procedures in 2009, one on each leg, 4 weeks apart, to ablate the vein that wasn't functioning properly so that the blood would create a new, deeper, better functioning pathway back up the legs. One worked better than the other, but both are in much better shape than previously. With regard to the socks, if you do see a doctor about your legs, he/she can write a prescription for the special socks, based on your particular condition, and your insurance company can cover part/all of the cost. In my husband's case, the special socks cost about $100, had to be special ordered, AND he had to be trained how to put them on and take them off. That was a riot! :)

I had very blue veins thruout entire tx. All I can tell you is that when I stopped the very blue veins disappeared. (It was ugly but so were the other symptoms)
I mentioned it to my hepatologist he made nothing of it.

Get you some of those compression hose. I buy the knee highs and they work wonders, I teach and have to stand on my feet all day. My veins were starting to break and legs were swelling. But since I got the knee highs it has been much better. I get mine online but I thing you can get them at like a nursing store.
