Hey there! haha I know,,,,I'm weird about the wait but just couldn't force myself to get down there. We were also taking a vacation and I wanted to totally enjoy before having to deal with anything. Hey,,,,is your hubby through with the tx and how is he feeling? I was hoping we could swing a trip your way in May but my daughter is graduating from college and we will be going there. I am definitely going to make it there though sometime because I have been wanting to see some of the sites there so will look you up! Have you ever made any contact with Cindee??? She just seemed to disappear on us and hoping she is ok these days! Take care Lady!
I also had a cough the entire time I was on treatment. 4 months post tx it's gone. Hang in there.
I, too, had a cough for the duration of treatment while on Pegasys and Copegus. When I went off treatment due to non-response, the cough went away.
I find ginger helps with nausea... ginger anything - ginger drops, ginger candy, ginger ale (remember mom's remedy?) ginger tea.... good luck I agree nausea is no fun... hang in there!!!
I just spoke with my DR she is phoning in some nausea medicine and told me to try claritin for the congestion. She also suggests trying to take ribavarin at a different time. I work from 5pm to 2am so it is hard I tryed it at 9am and 9pm but then I was at work so now im tryin it at 2pm and 2am but I still have to go to work and they are not being very good about it when I have to leave because of the nausea. Human resources keeps saying maybe I should just go out on a medical. Im starting to think I should. Thank you for your support
P.S.- Forgot to suggest that you ask your doctor for something to control the nausea. Phenergan suppositories work quite well.
If you started treatment with any congestion it's probably only been made worse by the ribavirin, which is known to cause increased phlegm and coughing. Myself, I usually start the day harumphing like an old man or, to stay gender-consistent, like Marge Simpson's sister Selma. Your response to the interferon shot makes sense, too: the drug concentration reaches its peak in what, 72 hours? Somebody help me out here. I react on exactly the same timetable as you, if that's any consolation. Hang in there!
i would say make sure your "cold" doesn't turn into pnemonia. i had a cold that turned on tx...before long i was caughing up blood and needed 2 z packs...(zithromyacn)
i'm not sure it had anything to do with tx or not...i always guessed it had, but i really don't know...it happened to me a few months into treatment...
Nausea is horrible. I was close to getting something to deal with it beyond OTC medicine. But I made sure I took my Riba on a full stomach .. or at least after I had a small meal. Before work, I have a small yourt, then take the Riba. That works for me. Although, out of nowhere last week and this week, I had a wave of nausea that made me sweat and made me feel like death. It was horrible and debilitating. I can handle all the other **** .. brain fog, aches, etc. Nausea sucks. I also get my symptoms later .. 72 hours later. Even those aren't like clockwork. This **** works on it's own schedule sometimes.
Good luck to you and hang in there.
Peng.
