i have a 11 shots of pegasys 180mcg
ribavirin 200mg-one week missing from 3 month supply
copegus 200 mg- one week missing from 3 month supply
i was taken off the meds because i did not respond to them
because of my situation i would like to be able to donate the meds to anyone that can use them ,in the help of beating the virus

This may be my bias but I feel safer having dental work in Thailand than I would in Mexico.( I had a tooth pulled in Costa Rica. I'd consider going there over Mexico)  I've had dentists here praise my Bangkok dentist's work and dental work in Thailand, in general. My guy isn't the cheapest. In fact by Thai standards he's expensive. He is near the embassies and flies regularly to Europe for clinics.  I've been seeing him since 1996. Last year he replaced a cracked bridge.  He did one implant and 2 crowns. I paid around $2500 which included everything including X-rays and teeth cleaning.  You certainly could do a search for dentists in Bangkok or go to the throntree forum lonelyplanet dot com. and check there.

I have some serious problems with gums...but I would also like to do some Laser whitening cosmetic stuff. I was in Bangkok years ago...wouldn't mind in the least going again.

I jus can't afford what it would cost here... How about Mexico?...cheaper ticket!

I agree your wife should be under a Doctor's care before starting TX.  The possible SX are just too unpredictable and potentially dangerous.

I don't have insurance. I received all my interferon and riba for free from the pharmaceutical company that makes it. Try calling:Sherring Plugh: 800 521-7157    or

  You can also try getting ahold of clinics, hospitals or universities in your area that specialize in liver problems. Ask if they have any charity care programs.  Ask exactly what is covered and what isn't. Good luck.              p.s. I also have a bottle of riba leftover and some pain relievers and ADs

Thanks for your attention.  We have her  bloodwork, we know  her geno, her virus load. Maybe you right,   maybe we have to find some clinical trial for her.   Really it  is very important to monitor this process.

Please be careful reg. your wife starting tx and then not knowing if she can continue, the possibility that the meds will not always be available throughout this ordeal. She can not stop and start.... As I'm sure you're aware...she will have to have regular lab work done. It seems too dangerous to treat without having a specialist monitor her progress. Have you looked into other avenues...such as clinics.? Also, there are programs from Pegasys, called Pegassist who will donate meds, and Pegintron's program is called Commitment to Care. What was her vlL? has she had a biopsy? Are there any University Hospitals in you area. Teaching hospitals might be a benefit to her. I am in my 22nd week of txng . If I didn't have a competent Hepatologist and extremely caring nurse practioner to help me through this and help me with the myriad of sx...with other precriptions for pain and sleep...and of course this forum has been a wealth of info, and advice and support. Tell us your situation...we can do some brainstorming..and possibly figure how she also can receive tx. I would think every avenue needs to be explored to get your wife the best possible care.  This chemo efects you blood. I have heard of people on this forum having to go to the hospital for blood transfusions. I have to go get blood drawn practically every week...becuse the dr needs to see how my HMG is doing my wbc conts, red blood cell counts, platelets...etc Let's all pt our heads together and come up with a better idea. Her txing with no dr., no monitoring of tests....way to dangerous (i thinK) I believe there are other ways to go about this. Have her post on the board with as much info as she has...I know youwill be amazed with the info. available here. Also, their are very promising clinical trials going on. and if she qualifies..she will be well taken care of. Wishing you the best.

I am on the treatment right now,interferon and ribavirin.. But my wife( she also has HepC, 1b) does not have insurance and we can not afford  her treatment. It will be very kind of you, if  she starts treatment now.

It's a kind thing that you are thinking about it.  Over the years here, I have read about many people who are uninsured or underinsured who could benefit from this kind of action.  In fact, I have been on the receiveing end.  I needed a couple of Pegs that my wife was able to locate at a locl GI office (it wasn't even my doc).  The source was a person who turned his/her excess meds to the doc for 'redistruibution'.  By my count, when I finish I will have a full bottle of riba left and I intend to do the same. Not only will I get the riba out of my sight, I may be be able to help someone the way I was helped.  Good luck to you Barry.

Thanks for being so thoughtful and caring. If you discreetly post your email address (like "my screen name at yahoo" -- and definitely do not use your normal email account but rather an 'special' account ) then you might here from some folks.

Just keep in mind that there are legalities involved in giving someone medication but my understanding is that you can donate them to a doctor or hospital (who then can pass them on) -- so that would be one way to facilitate the transfer. BTW no doctors or lawyers here :)
