Strongly agree with the above posts.Be careful of who you tell-its nobodys business. They might not fire you for having Hep C but if they want to get rid of you because you have Hep C,they will surely find another way. Dont tell Anyone in your workplace!!!!! cindy

HELL NO! First off, Hep C is your business, and you dont have to tell anyone if you dont want to.  That is your body and your terms.  I wouldnt tell anyone until you know how you feel about it and your treatments.  I would advise you to see a MD soon if you havent already, this is important to see how far along in the disease process you are and the available treatment for you asap before there is any LIVER damage.  Hep C is a Blood to Blood transfusion.  The only way anyone else will get it from you, is from BLOOD to BLOOD. I am a respiratory Therapist and I have Hep C and being fired is the last thing that my job would do. That is discrimination!!!!

I agree completely. I mistakenly told my old boss and swore him to secrecy and he immediately went to HR to ask if i was infectious, if anyone could get it blah blah and then sent confidential memos that I saw to the owner of the company all the big VPs etc.

What a mistake.

No, the only time there may be a problem is if you are working in the medical profession and have been shown to transmit the virus to patients.

I would advise NOT telling anyone at your work place either.  Your medical conditions are no one's business unless you choose to tell them.
