Hi, Angel216!
I'm 26 and 1/2 weeks into treatment. At first, my scalp was quite itchy, so I used head and shoulders. When that only seemed to help a little, I also got my hair cut to shoulder length and changed some things up. I used to wash my hair every 1-2 days. Now, I wash it maybe twice a week. I've also started using Organix Moroccan Argan Oil (Penetrating Oil). I put about a pea to dime size amount in my hair when it is slightly damp after a shower. Yes, my hair texture has changed BUT I'm so thankful I've found this Organix product and have grown comfortable to rarely washing my hair. I can definitely see a difference. I also avoid touching it as much as possible and try my best to avoid the blow dryer and hot iron (I usually use them once or twice after each shower but that's it). I'm hoping once my hair grows out I can stop blow drying and straightening to take better care of it.
Lastly, my favorite thing to use has been those new hair ties that don't leave creases. Since my hair is so dry, putting it up in a pony tail for even just a few minute leaves creases. These guys help me with that a little :)

Good luck finding what works for you! :)
I also cut my hair short early in tx because it was thinning so fast. Now, 7 weeks after tx and its still thinning. I wear hats and head bands to cover it up. I used to have thick hair. I am glad everyone likes the head bands, I get lots of compliments and have a nice collection. I puchased some wigs but the itchy scalp got worse so I dont wear them. From what I see on the forum, two months and it starts to calm down. I tried every product on the market. Nothing worked for me.
i also started with long hair and now i have it just above my shoulders. i have 3 more days. can't wait to start breathing easier and growing my hair back. it been a long time since june 24th. belle
I do use Nioxin....the whole system. And my hair also went from shoulder length to right below my ears. It will grow when I'm off the interferon.
I agree with LadyFoxx. Use Nioxin cleanser and conditioner and don't wash your hair everyday. You can, however, condition it everyday. I started with long hair and with one month to go on the 48-week treatment, my hair is ear length.
I am using Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner hair isnt falling out it's fantastic! try it you wont be unhappy I was shocked how good it works.
Yes, the therapy definitely changed the texture of my hair first. Then, around week eight, it began to thin....a lot! But I have faith that one day I will have my thick head of shiny hair back again.
I am not sure how the texture and feel of hair can change once it's already there on one's head....but it does. I suspect it has something to do with the oil production glands on our scalps being affected in some way along with the fact that we tend to stay slightly dehydrated in spite of drinking copious amounts of water. I tried olive oil, special conditioners, special shampoos, babied it....you name it. Not everyone's hair thins, but the texture definitely changes.
oh ya, my hair was like a horse brush. i used to joke about it.....call me a chia pet....i used conditioner sometimes, but mostly i went with the wildman look....it worked well cuz i'm wild to begin with. not sure if it's from the inc or the other wonderful stuff. go with it and make it work for you...good luck
