hep.C diagnosis

What's the difference between HCV-RNA test and HCV-antibodies test ?

No one here is a doctor, but much of the literature states that about 20 per cent of the people who test positive for the antibodies have the antibodies but have cleared the virus.

The antibody test must be the easier and cheaper one to do, as its done first. If you test positive for the antibodies, then you are tested for the actual virus.

Glad to hear that.  You're about 5 months out since exposure and with the type of exposure you had the likelihood of contracting the virus was very low.   I would take that negative antibody test as there is no virus in your body and not worry about again.

However, if will make you feel more comfortable to test again in six months then do it for the peace of mind but I'm quite certain you will be negative again.

Do you mind my asking; are you an Egyptian national? Your English comprehension is excellent; equal or better than most native English speakers. Just curious—

Bill

And I’m sorry to hear of your grandmother’s problems as well.

I'm sorry to hear that.  You are a very kind grandson to help her through this and remember hepc is not transmitted through casual contact.  There is a very low incidence of contracting hepc by the modes of transmission you have described. Have your antibody test done to put your mind at ease but I think you're going to be fine.

5 months should be sufficient time for antibodies to appear.  If it's negative, I wouldn't worry anymore.  By the way, how your granny doing?
