hepatic encephalopathy

im 53 female i have cirrosis hcv. Please help me understand if i should follow up on this? can you explain what im reading? Thanks           FINDINGS:

There is bilateral T1 hyperintensity involving both globus pallidi
and internal capsules, given history of cirrhosis which is consistent
with hepatic encephalopathy. Focus of T2 hyperintensities with
susceptibility artifact involving globus pallidi is likely secondary
to basal ganglia calcifications. Otherwise cerebral and cerebellar
hemispheres are normal in appearance and signal intensity. There are
scattered periventricular FLAIR hyper intensities, consistent with
periventricular small vessel ischemic changes. The ventricles are
normal in size. The basilar cisterns are maintained. There is no
evidence of intra-axial or extra-axial hemorrhage, or mass. No
abnormal enhancing foci are identified. There is incidental finding
of right cerebellar venous anomaly. Small amount of secretion is
noted into left sphenoid sinus.

Hi I am sorry, for some reason the first time I read this I did not get the first sentence explaining you had HCV and cirrhosis, so sorry, all I could see was the reading from your scan.

Hi, was this a scan of your brain?  It is early so I am sure others will be here soon.  I just thought perhaps I could at least try to offer suggestions  If this is a scan normally there is a simple conclusion at the end that summarizes it all down to what is important.  If you have Hepatitis C (HCV) and Encephalopathy (HE) you will want to get both of those treated by a Hepatologist as soon as you are able.  There are medicines that can treat the HE while you are treating the HCV
You might want to post this in the neurology forum.
Also if this was my reading I would do some searches for some of the sentences, i.e. bilateral T1 hyperintensity.....which is consistent with HE
Have you spoken to your doctor about this report?  Have you have your ammonia checked?  Sorry don't mean to ask more questions, just trying to help.  I may do better after another cup of coffee
Either way I wish you the very best, there are many many wonderful people on this forum who can and will provide support
