Is it possible to become infected with the hepatitis c virus if someone in your home is an intravenous drug user who used drugs on my toilet and sprayed blood all over the toilet paper.....used by many in the home.....please beware all those who live with IV drug users!!!! Toilet paper can become contaminated with IV needle blood sprays........check please.....before u wipe.....as most iv drug users shoot up on the toilet!!!!!

I think what they meant was the IV user "sprays" blood when they wash out their syringe. They sometimes squirt it onto tolit paper roll.

A little common sense goes a long way...

Blood doesn't "spray" unless the person hits a carotid artery. Arteries are not injected into by drug users. IV drugs are injected into a vein so blood doesn't ever spray. There isn't enough blood pressure in a vein to cause "spraying". Haven't you ever had a cut?

Beside hepatitis C is spread from an infected persons blood to an uninfected persons blood so even if there is infected blood as long as you don't come in contact with it the virus can't get into your blood and your not going to get infected. As can-do pointed out, who is going to use blood soaked toilet paper?

I would think since blood is red and liquid if it was "sprayed" all over toilet paper not only would it be hard not to see but there would be a very good chance it would be not useable. But be carful.

Having an IV drug user in your house definitely increases the odds of exposure. Personally I wouldn't allow it and put my family in danger.
