if a test has reactive a for hepatitis c antibody do i have the disease and how long can a person live with the disease?

Not necessarily; a positive HCV antibody test result suggests infection, past or present. You may have been exposed to the active, HCV RNA virus at some point in the past; further testing is required to determine if virus is present.

Ask your health care provider if the ‘HCV RNA by PCR’ test is indicated; if this test yields positive results your doctor will help you take appropriate action.
