Your treating doctor should always be the one to advise as far as taking something as strong as an antidepressant.
HCV treatment may cause  someone who has  issues with clinical depression  currently or has had in their past to have these issues arise while treating as the drugs may exacerbate this.
However if you  have not been diagnosed with clinical depression  this added med may not be necessary.
It sounds  like from your post possibly you have pretreatment anxiety and nervousness..rather than clinical depression. The two are entirely different and you may want to speak with your doctor about putting you on an anti-anxiety med currently  and see how that goes ..rahter than start one of the Ad"s when you possibly may not need it.
Then when you start tx. if .there seems to be some depression issues arise as a result of the medication ,possibly speak to the doctor about it at that time.

Again ..always best to be advised by a doctor that is aware of your history....

Best.

I'm not on treatment yet but  found Lexapro works well for me. I've tried others in the past that worked to varying degrees. Most will likely help with depression and take the edge off anxiety. See what your doctor recommends and if for whatever reason you don't like it after several weeks try a different one. I think it's trial and error and no one can know ahead of time which will work best.

Just my two cents...good luck.

My mom takes lexapro. Its taken her anxiety away.
A friend takes Zoloft.

Don't know if this will help but I was very anxious before I started tx. In my case it's because the first time was so difficult. This time it's going smoother. Once I jumped in and began to swim, why it wasn't so hard afterall!

Do whatever you need to feel better. Trust yourself. It will be alright.
Hugs,
OH

Hi you are so right concerning my anxiety. I do take Lorazapam now ,and have been for quite some time now.... and again,, you are right, and like my Dr. couldn't express Highly enough to me. that one of the SIDE EFFECTS on one of the meds is suicidal depression..... and that the depression being a side effect... she is strongly ,and caring enough to not begin her patients if they have any type of depression.... but, why am I just so darn scared ,emotions, running sky high, and the scary feeling in my heart.... right now.. is that just getting myself prepared to begin this ordeal of treating the hepc??? ugh.... I just dunno.... thank YOU for the experience you have within yourself to share it with someone who doesn't know ,what, why and if right now...... thanks friend..... deborah

Speak to your Dr as advised, and try to find what works best for YOU, in my case the AD's were bad news, and I dont take them. I did give them a very good try before coming to that conclusion. Its all about you when it comes to AD's, if it works for you great.
