Hello, I have a number of questions about when to start tx.
More of a determining factor would be liver enzyme being high or the condition of liver or viral load? My viral load is 20 million but everything else is normal - liver enz. fibroscan 0 stage, ultrasound mild enlargement. Geno 1B.
Is being in stage 1 fibrosis (instead of 3/4) having a better chance of cure and then does the liver regenerate and go back to stage 0?
Another question is how long time it takes to develop different stages of fibrosis on average?
About viral count - while on tx, I read somewhere a certain #of log decrease by week 12 (I think it is by 2 logs) . How can a person in the 100 mills get cleared and how long would it take?
Why we are not talking about how to keep our liver healthy - more?
Sorry for so many questions but after 2 years of research I am still not sure about these.
Thanks for taking time to answer
Just to elaborate a little more on vl, usually someone with a low vl of 400,000 or less has a better chance of SVR than those with a high viral load. Seems like most of us start out with a high vl anyway, but the good news is you stand as much of a chance of SVR with a vl of 8 million as you do with a vl of 75 million.

My viral load went from 8 milion to 75 million just prior to starting my tx. I was told my 2 hepatologists VL doesnt mean anything unless you are treating.it will constantly flucuate.
I felt fine too. VL has no bearing on the way we feel.
I would have a biopsy done though only way to see what degree of liver damage you have if any. Very important and should be done, at that point that will determine whether you should tx or not. Viral load is insignificant.
The very best of luck to you.
