I appreciate OH's take on the original post. She shows a flexible open mind but points out that these results are not part of clinical research. Furthermore,it is true on the web people will sell you their mother for a buck.
I tend to believe that there is much to gain from natural remedies for a discerning person and I also think this may have "cured" him or maybe he went into spontaneous remission-who knows?

From the dictionary:

negligible - so small as to be meaningless; insignificant ; not worth mentioning.

With HCV you are either infected or you are not , it is that simple.
There is no negligible infection.

Sounds to me like patients of www.chakrapaniayurveda.com are taking it in the rectum as noted below, I mean.  Swami's claim to help people with HepC all over the world, what the patients get is totally useless information.  BS, no cure that's all I'm saying...

"Basti : Ayurvedic Basti involves the introduction into the rectum of herbal concoctions of sesame oil, and certain herbal preparations in a liquid medium. Basti, is the most effective treatment of Vata disorders, although many enemas over a prescribed period of time are usually required. It relieves constipation, distention, chronic fever, cold, sexual disorders, kidney stones, heart pain, backache, sciatica and other pains in the joints.

The poster's said in Feb. of last year that her husband was starting treatment.
She never returns to tell us if he did tx, how long, if it was successful, etc.
We don't know much about her, her husband or otherwise.

I do believe all things are possible. We could find out that mixing a common herb with coffee would eliminate hep C~ who knows ?
The power of belief can do amazing things, but you have to truly believe.

Hope is important.
However, we must be realistic. Clinical trials do not declare they work based on one person's experience.

I hope you are right since the OP's  posts which date back to 2010 seem to indicate a wife who has devoted much time and effort into helping her husband get better. I would rather this be spam compared to false hope.
Still, hope however transient is still hope.

While in Thailand, I was told that turmeric was good for the liver, long before I heard anything about it's good properties here in the West.
While sick with cirrhosis, my good Thai doctor told me to eat egg whites and tofu to help raise my albumin levels.

In Laos they use the bark of trees as medicine, which makes sense. Aspirin originated from Aspen trees.

I'm of the opinion that there are many things not accepted by Western medicine that can work to help people.

However,  this is the internet and anyone can claim anything, my gut reaction to this poster is they're trying to sell a product.
I'd call this post spam.

Abstract Context  Lead, mercury, and arsenic intoxication have been associated with the use of Ayurvedic herbal medicine product (HMPs).

Objectives  To determine the prevalence and concentration of heavy metals in Ayurvedic HMPs manufactured in South Asia and sold in Boston-area stores and to compare estimated daily metal ingestion with regulatory standards.

Design and Setting  Systematic search strategy to identify all stores 20 miles or less from Boston City Hall that sold Ayurvedic HMPs from South Asia by searching online Yellow Pages using the categories markets, supermarkets, and convenience stores, and business names containing the word India, Indian cities, and Indian words. An online national directory of Indian grocery stores, a South Asian community business directory, and a newspaper were also searched. We visited each store and purchased all unique Ayurvedic HMPs between April 25 and October 24, 2003.

Main Outcome Measures  Concentrations (μg/g) of lead, mercury, and arsenic in each HMP as measured by x-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. Estimates of daily metal ingestion for adults and children estimated using manufacturers’ dosage recommendations with comparisons to US Pharmacopeia and US Environmental Protection Agency regulatory standards.

Results  A total of 14 (20%) of 70 HMPs (95% confidence interval, 11%-31%) contained heavy metals: lead (n = 13; median concentration, 40 μg/g; range, 5-37 000), mercury (n = 6; median concentration, 20 225 μg/g; range, 28-104 000), and/or arsenic (n = 6; median concentration, 430 μg/g; range, 37-8130). If taken as recommended by the manufacturers, each of these 14 could result in heavy metal intakes above published regulatory standards.

Conclusions  One of 5 Ayurvedic HMPs produced in South Asia and available in Boston South Asian grocery stores contains potentially harmful levels of lead, mercury, and/or arsenic. Users of Ayurvedic medicine may be at risk for heavy metal toxicity, and testing of Ayurvedic HMPs for toxic heavy metals should be mandatory.

Thanks for posting this. India and China have been working with these issues for a long time and I believe they have a lot to offer, if we can keep our minds open.
Before anyone starts blasting away at me for this unconventional viewpoint, please keep in mind that people in most parts of the world do not have access to the pharmaceuticals that Westerners have and may never have those options due to the economics of the situation.
We all must do the best we can for ourselves with what we have.
