I don't start the third drug till a month into treatment.

This sounds wrong.
Are you sure you are taking Incivek?
What you are describing is a lead-in. That is more common with Victrellis.
I bet you will be fine. Whatever you read or heard about Incivek will not happen to you as far as the systemic rash is concerned.
Ribavirin comes with its own share of side effects. The antihistamine is a good idea. The next time you have a doctor's appointment ask for a topical steroid cream. It does not have to be super potent but you may as well get something more potent than the OTC 1% kind at the drugstore.
Perhaps you could mix it with your regular lotion. You might want to try a lotion like Eucerin or Gold Bond.
Best of luck and keep in touch ♫
I didn't do well with incivek, but it is doable and you should feel so much better fairly quick once you're done with it. Kinda gives you something to look forward to. That said, everyone is different. Any sx you get you could post here ans whala, help will be there. Good luck
I think you'll probably feel not so good on Incivek if my and others' experience is any indicator. It's just something you have to tough out. Plenty of tips on what to eat and experiences on it. My biggest tip would be to start taking metamucil prior to starting that. If the 'roids get out of control you'll be hatin' it the whole time. Good luck to you. Keep your eyes on the prize.
Advocate nailed it. The miracle mouthwash helped a lot too. I had thrush continuously the last few mos of tx. I just looked back at old posts. I know where you're living. It may get worse, but it WILL end.
Love n hugs,
Karen :)
You might try the Biotene products (mouthwash, spray, toothpaste, etc.) to see if they will help. Tx contributes to changes in the salivary glands which create "dry mouth". Lots of people develop a bad taste in their mouth, distaste for foods and flavors and textures, and oral hygiene problems as a result of dry mouth. This may exacerbate your thrush condition. We have several forum members who struggled with thrush throughout tx. You might try the Biotene things to see if they help to avoid the additional mouth aggravations.
Ask your doctor for prescription anti-itch meds: Hydroxyzine (Atarax) - a pill, and Triamcinolone (an ointment). It's best to control the rash before it really takes off. Also consider stocking up on Tucks, baby wipes, Loperimide, and an over the counter cleanser called Balneol to help keep the anal area clean and dry to help prevent anal pain/bleeding and hemorrhoids. Drink lots of water.
If you develop nausea, ask your doctor for a prescription med to control nausea.
Good luck with treatment.
