increased liver enzymes post tx

I am two months post incivek (UND)continuing with riba and pegasysfor total 48 weeks.  saw md today told her recent bloodwork is showing increase in alt/ast levels, higher even then pre-meds.  she has notified fda about this same problem with nearly all her patients, possible liver toxicity from incivek.  we will continue to monitor.... did this occur with anyone in this forum ??

Ditto - my enzymes hit the roof during tx.  On 12 week check up they are in normal range. Your liver gets relief as the virus is killed, but the drugs do take a toll.

Although I did simply( ha!) SOC, pegasys and riba, my enzymes dropped at the 4 week mark, then climbed and weren't in the normal range until 4 weeks post treatment.
I think interferon is the culprit. You are still taking very strong medication.

I havenoticed that the people who treated with Incivek, were of course, very wiped out by it. The other thing I noticed was: there side effects from the Incivek took a very long time to go away, sometimes. Many had a rash, long after discontinuation of the Incivek, and their hemolytic anemia hung on, or resurfaced, as well (and these were people who hadn't been anemic in previous soc Tx's)
There are also tons of other reasons to have elevated enzymes. We had a member here, who had them post Tx, and found out it was rom something like a gallstone..I cant quite remember..that or a kidney stone.
You should see a Hepatologist, and try to uncover the reason for this. Good luck

I had this problem both during and immediately after treating.  My doc said it would take time for all the level to equalize.  It did.
I am sure it will be fine.  Incivek was a very difficult tx.
Good luck, it will get better

Wow sorry to hear about your liver enzymes. Could you be a little more specific?
How elevated are your liver enzymes? Do you happen to notice if there is a pattern, like in patients with a certain stage of fibrosis? Is this all treatment types (treatment naive relapse, prior partial & null?). When you say "nearly all her patients," how many is that? Does she have a high volume of patients treating the virus? Also is she a GI or Hepa?

Thanks and I hope this works out. Keep us posted.
