Most knowledgeable hepatologists prescribe proton pump inhibitor (PPI) drugs like Nexium or Prilosec. Both are generally considered liver friendly; omeprazole is available generically if cost is an issue.
Yep, Prilosec or the generic version should take care of it.
I am taking zantac 150 it helps with indigestion and believe it or not it really helps with the nausea
I'm curious, is this symptom something a sx from tx? I'm on week 14 and haven't had heartburn in years. Just started the other day.
The NP at my liver clinic said interferon can cause indigestion.
Her suggestion was to take Maalox.
I asked about probiotics and was told they couldn't hurt.
BTW: My problem lasted about 2 weeks.
Sometimes I wonder if any other treatment has such changing side effects.
I took prescription Pepsid - Nexium was not allowed in the trial that I was in. For me, the heartburn lasted throughout treatment but went away about a month after I finished up.
My husband's NP said that TX can cause all kinds of indigestion problems from upper to lower GI tract.
