looking for hepatologist in Boston, Hartford or NYC

A close friend of mine has just been told that she has a hypodense lesion in the liver.  She wasn't told how big it is.  She is scheduled for an MRI next week.

Can anyone recommend a hepatologist in Boston, Hartford, or NYC?  In this case not looking for a hep C specialist.

Hopefully it isn't cancerous...

Dr. Wu at UCONN Medical Center. Head of the department. I would stay away from Dr. Jonathan Israel. I used him for the first 4 months and he and his staff's incompetance drove me crazy. They were so bad I had to switch mid-treatment.

Dr Afdhal in Boston. One of the best hepatologist in the world. he is one of the only places you can get a FibroScan.

Usually lesions on the liver are NON-cancerous. Most are just hemanginomas a benign mass. The MRI is the right next step to diagnose.

Heptologists are hep specialists. The best doctor I ever went to was the infamous Dr. Ira Jacobson in NYC. He doesn't take insurance but you can do out of network and for anybody with a serious liver problem I would say at least get a second opinion from him as he offered to consult with my regular GI doc and guide him in my particular case.
