Not to scare you, but my dad also has Hep C and is now dealing with low blood pressure. I've read that substances that are usually cleared from your system by a healthy liver can cause a generalized dialation of the blood vessels throughout the body (except in the kidneys where they are intensely constricted). The generalized vasodialation results in low blood pressure. This usually only occurs in advanced stages, and is usually asymptomatic because it is gradual in its onset.
Thanks for input.
I deceided I'm going to stop the thyroid meds, one doc said I should try them, the other said not to.My pressur is going back up, thank God.
i am just borderline low/ hypo but in normal range, which is a controversial subject with doctors and so its hard to know which way to go.
my low progesterone level may be the culprit, if this isn't hep c related or menses related.
the constipation, which can be a symptom of thyroid is annoying.hate to discuss this in front of a mixed audience, but in here, we all seem to let it all hang out....thats the only way to get advice.
does anyone know if colon/ liver cleanses are okay in our case. below i will put a site. i'm thinking of trying this. if you get grossed out easily, don't look at these pictures ...but if this is safe and you are looking for a internal cleanse, check out the pictures that people sent in. the "mucosal pictures" are gross, but if that stuff is in me, i want it out.
I can't seem to find the ingredients in the product. probably herbs, but i want to make sure the herbs are safe for me to take. again warning disgusting pictures, but you may want to cleanse also after seeing this.
so if any of you have time to check it out and if you find ingrediants feel its safe for livers like ours..let me know ...thanks

Cool pics, thanks for sharing. I think I have my new screen saver picked out. I'm thinking Chinese for dinner - Som Wat Crapp, perhaps.
lol your funny!! Can't say i didn't warn ya though. lol screen saver, i'm still laughing.
hey listen though..the Som watt crapp isn't as tasty as the poo-poo plater. lol
My thyroid meds haven't changed my bp at ALL so I doubt that is it.
You need to remember your body is going through MAJOR stuff and most likely this is something from the meds. Unless it was dangerously low...I wouldn't really sweat it. They go up and down and up and down.....
Be CAREFUL on stairs and stuff but.....unless you get REALLY low don't sweat it.
My doctor and NP just seemed to consider the lower bp normal.
I don't know really - don't know that anyone really does. I would DEFINITELY ask a GI about it because on many levels it seems there could be pro's and con's you know?
Constipation is a really common problem with treatment AND with thyroid problems. I see this commercial all the time for a new med on tv BUT of COURSE like they all do it says "don't take with liver problems". It seems all the new meds say that on them. Another thing for us to always consider.
I take my Synthroid and haven't had any problems at all. I dn't have a choice though as my case went extreme in both directions. If you DO stop the med...you'd better make REAL GOOD AND SURE that you keep on top of your TSH levels and stuff. I can tell you one thing for CERTAIN - the numbers can go south REALLY REALLY FAST! I went from being extremely Hyper to extremely Hypo in only 3 weeks. You HAVE to monitor it closely because if you are having problems already...they aren't just going to get better on their own and more than likely if the IFN is causing an autoimmune disease - it will get worse the more you take it.

made a mistake...this is the product i was wondering about...and don't kill me...this is gross, but "if' its safe, i want to try it. i won't mail in my picures though lol
If it is safe to use for people with hep, i would imagine it would be benificial.
wheres rock? he may know about this particular product.
Just wanted to add, I respect anyone who can take a licken' and keep on ticken'...and you've done that with almost the whole board it seems (boy I've been there too)....we can have disagreements now and then, but doesn't mean we don't want to 'deep down' help each other out...be well...cept maybe trolls who don't even have hep, they can get help somewhere else!!! ha ha!
Hi, just like I think there aren't enough docs and med pro's that ascribe as many symptoms to Hep C as they should...I also think it can go the other way for some of us, and we think "everything" is Hep related...
I think it's a little complicated...if youre a middle aged woman, even if your menses has already stopped, or hasn't, whatever, you can be suffering from all kinds of symptoms that are due to hormonal fluctuations as well as the hep...maybe 6 of one, half dozen of the other, who knows?...these types of issues are hard for docs to fathom, if they even bother in the first place....Doubledose and I had a little chat about this the other day...the testing procedures for hormones, etc..are pretty unsophisticated so far...then of course, the many glandular conditions that the hep might be aggravating...women have these without hep too...
It probably is even more of a problem for some of us in that we have hep and it's messing with our hormones big time because the liver is the general of the hormones...
If you go to some of the more popular menopause sites, you will see a bunch of women who have all kinds of crazy issues, low bp, a passel of things they never experienced before, and they'll go to this specialist, and they think this, and that specialist, and they think that...and I'm talking about women who DON'T even have hep, you could maybe look up that thread on all the symptoms of menopause and perimenopause< I made a week or so I guess...power-surge.com is a good menopause site...
So to me it's really complicated and I'm not sure the docs can correctly pin-point each and every symptom that's going on with US in particular, all the time. With guys?...it's prolly a lot more cut and dry...just my take after all the research I've done, I'm sure others have other takes...
Forgot to add, please see a doc regarding your medications, maybe another one that is not on vacation...
thanks guys, both of you have valid points.
and its true, doesn't mean everything is hep related, but I went warp speed into menopause as soon as I started feeling "differnt" before knowing i had hep.Seems like alot of women go directly into a sudden halt with menses with hep. Fine with me, but feels like my hormones are in a blender. Translation....i feel like i'm back in the day of doing orange sunshine...
But, thanks for being there, even though we vote different in elections....but next election, I'm voting same as you and Rev. lol thats the truth too. i know.... no political discussions.
see ya later
my own, a coworker just had a similar experience with her thyroid meds. She was asked to start taking synthroid and she developed palpitations and a speedy, lightheaded feeling. She has a cardiac condition, so they ended up admitting her for observation. If you can go to the drug's website and read the warnings and contraindications, you might get some anwers.
thanks....and by the way...I do like you, ya know. Not just because of our common crumby disease. We may bunk heads once in a while, but so what? I can tell your cooool. your all right in my book.
thanks for being there.
"If you go to some of the more popular menopause sites, you will see a bunch of women who have all kinds of crazy issues"
You make it sound better than a good sports bar!
My BP has always been low, not as low as the 90/40. I would just keep checking it and make sure it doesn't go any lower. Of course ask your dr.
Yep, we do have the low basil temp and low blood pressure in common. Now you just have to tell your husband you need a housekeeper while on tx!
Mine is normally like yours also 110/70 and lately 100/65 I thought mine was TX related because of the Low red and whites But now I am questioning that Hmmmmm gave me something else to ask doc next week.
Grandma...I take so many vitamins. You name it, I take it, so i don't thik its that, but maybe something isn't being absorbed. thanks for your input.
SFbaygirl...we seem to be having more and more in common, low basil temp, low blood pressure, hormonal issues, we don't work... except I don't have a housekeeper like you..but maybe this means my husband is getting me one. lol
Yours was that low...90/40??? maybe this is a symptom of the virus for some.
Maybe all good looking, smart, well- bred female heppers with pleasing personalities have this low blood pressure problem in common.lol
Not to sound stupid, but what is ERCP?
My longing for knowledge overides my fear of embaressing myself for asking a stupid question. lol
see ya later, unless I pass out from the low pressure
My blood pressure has been low for ages. just before tx, after my ERCP, my blood pressure was 90/40. They were a bit concerned and took it every hour. I have no idea what it is now. One more thing I don't want to worry about! LOL Maybe it's the low basil temp and low blood pressure at the same time? I hate it when you have overlapping symtoms and can't find answers.
Or it could be from all the pacing you are doing waiting for tx. You are just wearin' yourself out!
Be careful driving. Also if you fall and hit your head that's not good. I heard it means you could be low in a vitamin or mineral when you get dizzy when you stand up fast. Does anyone remember which one?
Thanks for your response.
I do have the home system. Thats how I found out. I wasn't at the doctor's. As a matter of fact, he's on vacation other wise I would call him.
But, I will take it again as you suggested, because it can and does fluctuate, but ya know how ya feel something isn't right. My head started feeling weird before and then a little dizzy, so I tested it.
I'm starting to think it may be thyroid med. I think my thyroid is not really that low and maybe the meds are doing this. I caled pharmacist and he said it wouldn't do it, but then when I searched google for thyroid and low pressure, there CAN be a connection, so for that reason the meds in my opinion could also do it.
Or...........this may just be another extra hepitatic manifestation for some,,,not that a doctor will ever acknowledge though.
thanks
yeah, hadn't really factored treatment in there too, sorry...also, women can have lower blood pressure readings then men for some reason, generally speaking, prolly hormones I'd venture...maybe other people have other takes from their docs...
from what I know, which ain't terribly much...you should really buy a personal blood pressure monitor if you have any real concerns about it...you have to take readings over a number of days, at different times of the day to get a real good beat on it..pardon the pun...
Many people's bp's fluctuate during the day...if you've just stood up after lying down...if you've just taken a hot bath or exercised, all these will factor in...after you've taken readings over a number of days, in relaxed moments...then you can see an average taking place...
Also, some people (like me ferinstance, hate to admit it) have a kind of "white coat phobia", where they get a little case of the willys just being in a doc's office, so that can make a bp reading in a clinic or hospital higher then normal for some people...
the personal thingys are about 60 bucks, maybe get em cheaper on the net... hope this helps...
I've always had a relatively perfect (and low) blood pressure but while on treatment it's gone down even more. Sometimes as a result it's hard for them to do a blood draw too you will notice (not enough blood in the vain pumping away I guess).
I'm always dizzy - dizzier than usual. Even when my hemo is ok. It's just one of those things my friend...you are not alone.
