low white blood count?

I recently had a CBC blood test. Reason, I want to take Accutane again for my adult acne and it requires pregnancy, chem 8, and CBC testing first. The CBC came back low white blood cell count. I wasn't told how low, probably because I didn't ask, and don't know which white cells are low, but I've been researching online and found that the Antibotic Doxycycline 100mg my doctor put me on 30 days prior to the test can cause a drop in the WBC. I stopped taking it when I started the Accutane and now I really annoyed of all the worrying I'm doing. The accutane is working great, BTW. I'm 27 female in great shape, don't drink or smoke. I took ephedra for years before they yanked it, now on limited amount of Phentermine. So my question is, for 7 months I used the LA party drug cocaine. I got a new job and moved away. On top of all the other **** using does, did it effect my CBC?
Thanks

I have no idea about the possible transplant. But I do want to echo what others have said about the grace you have demonstrated through this ordeal ... and your courage. I will hope that the kidney situation resolves quicky and completely and then, as always, it will be one step at a time. Good luck. Mike

I cannot express to all of you how much I appreciate the prayers, well-wishes and concern you have shown my husband and myself, and I do believe we have moved a small mountain! I was in ICU when doc came in and this is kinda what he told us. This bacterial infection was so severe (they identified 3 different strains/bugs), that the heavy duty antibiotics that they have been administering for 2 weeks now has caused damage to his kidneys. They think they are on top of the infection but with my husbands cirrhosis and now kidney problems they are sending him to the city to get re-evaluated by the transplant team. He has deffinately sustained more damage but at this point I don't know how soon a tranplant will happen (any ideas, Mike?). First take care of the kidneys and then it will be a waiting game, I suppose.

On the up side, he says he feels better today then he has for quite awhile and actually ate some food last night and again today. The kidney meds are working so I feel my most immediate prayers have been handled. Thanks to all of you, I am sure.

Now I must find a way to Vancouver, a place to stay etc. They are waiting for a bed to become available (our great Canadian medical system) so have already packed and will be ready whenever. I have no idea how long I will be gone or what we are in for but am taking my pegatron (of course) and have been assured by pharmasist that I can order new supply from there if need be. This country bumpkin going to the big city without her man will be an experience in itself! I am NOT a city girl!

Thanks again for all the caring, and I'd sure appreciate it if the prayers kept comin. I will keep in touch if possible, and I could still be here for days so I will check in. Please everyone know, If I have made it through the past 2 weeks and am still maintaining my sanity (I'm sure that is open for debate), I think it is a good testament to the human spirit that we can and will endure the most painful things life can deal us, with or without these horrid drugs in our systems, and we will survive. God bless  Couch

Sorry, but you have wandered into a hepatitis forum.  The only reason any of us have a low WBC is because one of the drugs we toke to combat our disease causes it.

Hi,
I am sorry to break in here but just want to let everyone know that the LA.Times has an article on the front page of the Business section today headlined "Chiron Relaxes Patent Licenses". The second line is "The biotech firm acts amid cricism that its upfront fees stifle work on drugs for hepatitis C."  The address for this is Http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-chiron22jun22,1,4388591.story
For some reason I couldn't get the story with my computer but it gave me the L.A. Times site and I typed in Chiron and it listed articles and from that I  got today's story.
The article is very interesting.  Apparently Chiron Corp that identified the HCV genome in 1987, has been charging upfront fees and annual payments to companies that wanted to obtain rights to the Hep C patents. If anyone can't get the story, I'll cut and paste it to this site.
On another note, Besides the peg I have started gamma interferon a while ago and so far have just had fatigue. My doctor also started me on one 12.5 vioxx a day.  So in a couple of weeks I'll find out what the results of this are.
Hope your day is good.  Sorry again for breaking in.
