milk free protein drinks

I'm allergic to milk and I need a protein drink for days I can't get down solid food.  It would have to be completely milk free, not just lactose free.  Even the ones that specifically say milk free on the label have milk in them.  Lactose free usually still has milk poducts  in it and typically whey comes from milk.  Any one else with a milk allergy on peg/riba who can help me out here?  Any suggestions on what to do when I can't eat?  Like I said, it's not lactose that's a problem, it's any milk products.

The problem is that when I try to swallow some things I gag,(which is not a new problem for me).  I realize I may not be able to get around the restrictions but I need to atleast try.  I would rather feel bad from not eating in the morning than have the last 3 inches of my urethra on fire, but I would like to try to find a happy medium.  My dr's knew this would be an issue for me before we started and told me to make sure I take a vitamin and eat atleast once a day.  I'm doing that!!  If I eat alot of acidic food or alot of additives, I get hunner's ulcers on my bladder wall, and they're extremely painful both to have and to get rid of.

Yes, you can get it in healthfood stores.

Sometimes we need to mindfully look at things differently.
Nobody wants this virus. I certainly never thought I'd have a liver transplant.

You need nutrition and you can swallow something even if it isn't your favorite or you don't like the texture. In fact, you can even get used to it.

I know tx can make things seem intense but we have to do what we have to do.

I've been looking for a health food store but the closest one I've found is downtown.  I'm gonna try a vitamin store but I figure they might not have what I need.  My husband can take me to the other one this weekend, but I won't drive there especially during christmas shopping season.  I remember I didn't like the almond milk and it just seemed slimy.

This is all so frustrating!!  I was pretty limited on what I could eat before but I didn't have to avoid milk completely.  Now I'm finding it's in everything and bothering me much more than it used to.  With my IC restrictions I feel like most days I'm having to choose between a milk reaction and urethral burning.  I'm talking major burning, not just a little sting.  The boost clear I tried yesterday is causing me problems and I only had one drink.  I've tried supplements of many kinds but the only thing I can handle is Walmart brand women's multi-vits.

Thanks for everybody's help, I have some new ideas to try.  Cross your fingers and hope I don't flare too bad as I figure this out.

OH, I tried the smoothie thing and it just seemed slimy, I've never been this sensitive to texture before either.  I know ginger bothers me, but I can do cinnamon.  I haven't tried flaxseed yet.  Can you get it pure or does it have additives?

I got so hooked on rice milk and powdered protein that I still have one daily. They're a great treat AND source of protein. I like the protein powder that uses chick pea for the protein source. Seems less nauseating to me.
I'm sorry you have allergies. When you're already sick, the limitations don't help. Have you tried quinoa? It's kind of like rice in that it's flavorless, but it packs a lotta protein and is lighter than rice.
Best to ya.

What if you make a smoothie with fresh fruit and use either almond or rice milk as the liquid ? You could add flax seed meal to up the fat content.
If you can handle it, you can also put a raw egg in as well.
Toss in a little grated ginger, maybe a bit of cinnamon and you've got a yummy healthy drink.

Thanks, I've looked at the pharmacy and asked about rx supplement drinks but they all contain milk.  I tried boost clear today and I don't recommend it.  It tastes exactly like flintstones vitamins.  I'm not too worried about fat.  I'm usually able to eat by dinner time, I just need something to get me through the day so I don't get really bad shakes.  I wonder if I could find a powder without milk and add it to soy milk.  I haven't found any soy products I like yet, but it might be ok mixed with something like boost.  I'm looking for that general taste but I'm afraid it's the milk products that give it that flavor.  Between the milk and the egg allergy I'm really limited on what I can eat.

I wouldn't recommend Boost nor ensure they are full of junk!

HI, I am in the same situation, so I do have unsweetened organic soya milk (has 4.6grms of fat per 250ml)
If protein is what you want (the meds need fat!!! ) there are plant based protein shakes, you can ask at the health shop. They will be usually based on rice and peas protein.
