Thanks for writting. I need to correct my spelling. Naringenin. It's a gratefruit supplement. I'm going back on the lipator and staying away from the naringein.
I have a positive antibody and quanitive test, but not numbers. My primary health clinic only does those blood tests. I do have my liver enz.at 67 which has been consistent for atleast 15 years. I have a clean utrasound and basically feel good except for the pain that I hope I caused.
I'd like to postpone tx for a few years, but am afraid I don't have enough info to make that decision.....
Three liver specialists Ive consulted with all feel that the statin/HCV warnings have been overblown and that statins (including lipitor) are usually safe for those with HCV. Taking it with grapefruit juice is another story and I believe that's contraindicated. That said, liver enzymes should be regularly monitored when on statins, especially in the beginng. Did your liver enzymes spike after taking Lipitor? If not, your liver pains might be caused by something else. Dont know what "Nargerin" is.
Yea us old substance abusers also think more is better, was taking 4500 mg a day and the lipator, which I guess is best not taken at all. I am looking for a high colestrol drug that is safe.
I have not had anymore pain but can only guess the nagerin a lipator was the cause. I have no insurance, have a clean ultrasound, probably got this srurge atleast 35 years ago. In 97 the hospital did alot of blood work on me and they said I had been exposed to hep b... I know I didn't get c after that . I don't think they tested for c, or who knows. They did have c established arround 92, I read.
I think I can get the drug sto tx from the drug companies, just have not established my condition yet. I would have a biopsy if I could get one, and know for sure if I need to tx.
Grapefruit Juice is quite harsh on your liver. Its effects last for over 24 hours.
It may lower your VL but you pay for it.
Save the grapefruit till just before your tx.
All the Best
