neutrophils

Is this a safe: my neutrophils came back as 38.6 %.....and my absolute neutrophils are 1042.....what does this mean?

Last visit my absolute neutrophils were 950 and they are not giving me any rescue drugs yet.   Our clinic also uses 0.5 as a threshold.  Just making sure to wash my hands often and keep antibacterial lotion with me always. So far so good!  :-)

Mine went to 800. Doc said that low nuets was not the scary contraindication for someone TXing with interferon, as it would be if the cause were unknown or with a cancer patient.

Your absolute neutrophil count or ANC is slighly above 1.0 (1042).  While some doctors will get concerned and consider neupogen below 1.0, more experienced hepatologist's will use 0.5 as the threshold.  I'm not sure how many weeks you've been trt, but keep you eye on this.  Best of luck to you.
