pain relief

Starting to think about scheduling my surgery for my torn rotator cuff.I hear this is a pretty painful surgery and would like to know what I will be able to take for the pain I will be having after the surgery.I know I will be needing something strong as I am a wimp when it comes to something like this, but I also dont want to damage my liver any in the process-cindy

Hi.  O ow!!  I have shoulder injuries big time but have managed to not need surgery.  Don't know about the meds but see if they recommend ice.  You'd have to go through the stages of ice: cold, pain, then numbness (which is great because then you feel no pain). When I was in the bulk of pain, the only thing that helped me was ice but I am not sure the same would be true after surgery.  Best of luck to you.

Hopefully all of your doctors know your medical history and will decide what is best for you as a team. There are some very strong narcotic pain meds that do not have all of the trash like Tylenol mixed in and do not make your liver work so hard. Be sure to express your concerns
